Rockstar Mayhem Festival 2010 Announces Lineup: Korn, Rob Zombie Headline
Some Heavy Hitters in the Group Include Hatebreed, Lamb of God, Five Finger Death Punch, Shadows Fall
Rock music has changed a lot since I was a little rocker listening to Kansas, Styx, and Boston on the radio while also enjoying the "older" rockers like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, and The Doors. Rock went through some strange and somewhat weird phases, some melodic phases, some hard, hair, and heavy phases, a grunge and post-grunge phase, and now it seems to have delivered music listeners to a neo-punk, alt-metal phase. Still, regardless, rock has always been loud, was meant to be played loud (remember your parents screaming, "Turn that s*** down!"?), especially in concert.
And if you like it loud, the Rockstar Mayhem Festival is the place to be. I took my teen sons to the first annual Rockstar Mayhem Festival two years ago. Mastadon, Dragonforce, Disturbed, and Slipknot were the headliners. It rained almost the entire day in Atlanta but that didn't stop the capacity crowd of enthusiasts from screaming along with the bands, pumping their fists into the air, and banging their heads. Fun was had by all.
The Rockstar Mayhem Festivals feature a main stage and two side stages. Two years ago, I was introduced to a young band of retro-metal rockers called Black Tide and was impressed. Other bands that day included Machinehead, Walls of Jericho, and the returning (and headlining) Seven Finger Death Punch. The latter was one of which I'd never heard but soon got to know when they hit the radios with "The Way of the Fist," which became a Billboard Heatseekers hit album.
Both Rob Zombie and Korn will be showcasing new material on the tour. Look for all the other bands to either have something recently released or soon to be released as well, so attendees will not only get to hear their faves from the bands but some new tunes as well.
The stage lineups:
Main Stage:
Korn
Rob Zombie
Lamb of God
Five Finger Death Punch
Mayhem Festival Stage:
Atreyu
Norma Jean
In This Moment
3 Inches of Blood
Jagermeister Stage:
Hatebreed
Chimaira
Shadows Fall
Winds of Plague
The tour begins in San Bernardino, California, on July 10. At present, it is set to go through 26 cities and finish up in August.
