Keystone Resort in the Colorado Rockies is a great place to visit, no matter what time of year you're traveling. Sadly, most military families, even those stationed in Colorado, rarely ever have the cash to plunk down on a family vacation or couple's getaway in the Colorado Rockies. That is where Rocky Mountain Blue at Keystone Resort comes in. Active-duty and reserve military, national guard, Department of Defense (DoD) and NAF government employees, retired military, and the immediate family members and guests of those mentioned are authorized to use Rocky Mountain Blue.

Rocky Mountain Blue is not a stand-alone resort in the Rockies. Rocky Mountain Blue is a service managed by the 10th Services Squadron of the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. By using the Rocky Mountain Blue service, military personnel and their families can book a complete vacation including lodging, flights, lift tickets, ski and snowboard rentals, shuttles and rental cars at discounted prices. The Rocky Mountain Blue vacation Web site provides the best available rates online for Keystone Resort.

Keystone Resort is located in the Colorado Rocky Mountains in White River National Forest. Keystone Resort is only one hour from Denver and home to three mountains: Dercum Mountain, which is 11,640 feet, North Peak, which is 11,660 feet, and The Outback at 11,980 feet. There are over 3,000 vertical feet and 3,000 acres of bowls, bumps, glades, steeps and groomers in the winter. In addition to great daytime fun, you'll also find Colorado's best night skiing at Keystone.

Rocky Mountain Blue offers lodging at Keystone Village, Mountain House, North Keystone, River Run Village and West Keystone. Whether you're looking for a hotel room, bed and breakfast or a luxury condo for the whole family, all your lodging needs can be accommodated through Rocky Mountain Blue. While rates are somewhat discounted during the winter season, the rates for enlisted personnel are downright cheap in the off-season from $93 to $145 per night at some of the best rooms at Keystone Resort.

In addition to all of the obvious benefits of staying at the Keystone Resort, Rocky Mountain Blue guests receive a 15 percent discount at Keystone participating restaurants and activities with the Adventure Passport they receive upon check-in.

Some off-season activities available at Keystone Resort are guided nature hikes, geo-cache adventures, horseback riding, guided history walks, the hands on wilderness learning program, Nordic fitness walks, beaver prowls, mountain biking, boat rentals, bungee trampolining, fly fishing, miniature golf, gold panning, golfing, chairlift rides, wagon rides and stargazing at the observatory.

Dining and nightlife options are many at Keystone Resort. Mexican, Italian, American, casual or formal, no matter what your taste in food or entertainment, you can find it at Keystone Resort year-round.

If you are traveling from a lower altitude, be sure to drink lots of extra water during your stay in the Rockies. The altitude and change in oxygen levels will dehydrate you very quickly.
