Roller Coaster

I remember
My middle school years
An emotional roller coaster
A teenage career
Blue and green gum, stuck on the ground
Finding my stuff in the lost and found
Meeting new people
Making new friends
Getting in fights
Some friendships end
Hearing the sink like new tennis shoes squeak
Watching the toilets like a waterfall leak
Smelling the locker room for the very first time
Finding on it's floor, a quarter and dime
Running my first, 8 minute mile
Hoping not to do it again for a while
At the dance
Requesting a song
Feeling so tired
Since dances are long
Making bad choices
Making some good
Making mistakes like you knew you would
All together, it was good couple of years
But not of course, without a few shed tears
