Each husband is different and each one has his own unique love language. Think back to your dating years...what please him the most? What did you do to get his attention and make him smile? Here are some ideas that might work for you, but take each one and make it your own. Get creative!
1. Going past him in the house? Stop to give him a hug or just lightly brush his hand with yours. Physical contact doesn't have to be intense, it just needs to happen.
2. Hold his hand while you're watching a movie together. I know, the remote is in one hand, right? Sit on the other side of him and grab the free hand!
3. Send notes in his lunch. Thank him for a project he finished in the house or an errand he ran for you over the weekend. Tell him how much you love him. Give him glimpses of what the evening could be when he gets home.
4. Write him a love letter and send it to his workplace. The outside of the envelope should be plain - nothing fancy to draw attention. Put "Personal" on the outside so the assistant doesn't open it. It will be a nice surprise in the middle of his day to receive a special message from his beloved.
5. Dress up for him on occasion. When you were dating, you looked great most of the time, right? Put on his favorite dress, pants or sweather, fix your hair and put on makeup (if that's how you look your best). Greet him at the door and whisk him off to dinner for the evening. Or, ask a friend or family member to visit with your children for the evening (at their house!) and have a candlelight dinner ready at home.
6. Does your husband enjoy a sport or hobby? Try to show interest in it or do it with him. Let's say he loves cycling. Take a bicycle ride with him some beautiful summer day and take along a picnic lunch. Find a shady spot along the way and just catch up with one another over lunch.
7. Call him now and then just to say, "I love you".
8. Leave notes in his Bible so he will see them each morning. Is he reading a good book in the evening? Leave post-it notes in the next few pages he will read so he is immediately thinking of you.
9. Tell others, in your husband's presence, how much you appreciate him and his character. That goes a long way toward making your husband feel great! His heart will be full as he listens to you praise him!
10. Compliment him on his looks. Ladies aren't the only ones who want to hear they are attractive! Tell him he is handsome, gorgeous...whatever works for you!
Valentine's Day is a wonderful day to show your husband you love him. But, make sure to show him the rest of the year too! He will be surprised and pleased, trust me!
