First, the movie opens by telling us that the story takes place near the very end of the Eastern Han Dynasty. Cao Cao, an ancient term for secretary of state, was attempting to stifle Liu and Sun. According to the movie, a very beautiful woman, xiaoqiao was his ultimate object of endeavor. What a big fuss! Yet, it was actually funny! The director forgot that "I really wanted qiao" was wrote by Cao Zhi (Cao Cao's son)! Still, how come he know qiao? When Caocao was younger, xiao qiao was on the way!
Some of the scenes are a little bit odd. So, others who already know the book inside and out may also find some of those non-action scenes rather weird. I do wish the movie had not teased with several endings before finally showing the credits. As results, some people criticized it as a junk film that distorted the history to a certain extent. Well, I do not think this movie necessarily deserves that kind of treatment.
As you know, the story of Chi Bi is almost known to all. At this point, if it just echoes what the books say, is there still anything that we can expect? Hence, the way I see, it was an excellent entertaining film after all! However, it is definitely not the best move that Wu Yusen has directed? He could do it much better!
On the other hand, the comic scenes in the play were overdone. For example, I was a difficult birth for qiao's horse! Everyone worried about it! At the time, Zhu Geliang had an good idea. Thus, he successfully delivered the horse baby! What do you think? A great hero turned out to be a midwife. Wasn't it tedious? I couldn't believe that they intermingled the fact with fiction like that. Maybe there are lots of drawbacks of this movie! But I can't deny it for reasons! The set is terrific; The actors all did a great job! It took great effort to finish it!
Finally I should tell you that the movie was pretty long! You may get hungry while watching it! So, don't forget to bring some delicious food with you!
