Romantic Date Spots in Jackson, Tennessee

Perfect for Valentine's or Any Date

Amanda Herron
Jackson, Tennessee is known for its chain restaurants and churches. It can be difficult to find a unique, truly romantic place to spend an intimate date with your significant other. Here are the best, most romantic places in Jackson, without having to go to Memphis or Nashville for a romantic date.

Thai Cafe

Located at 605 Carriage House Drive (in the corner of the little strip mall, you've gotta look for it) is Jackson's only Thai restaurant. The owners are first-generation Thai and the food is 100% authentic. The new location has an intimate setting. If your date likes spicy food, or is at least open minded, ask for one of the high-backed booths in the back for a fun, private dinner. You'll feel like you're the only patrons in the restaurant as you and your date enjoy the chicken satay with Landy's special peanut sauce, laap or spicy tender chicken bowl. Teach your date to use chopsticks for even more fun. Finish it off with a sweet dessert with your sweetheart.

Miss Ollie's

One of downtown Jackson's newest night life additions, Miss Ollie's is a sleek, sophisticated piano bar 111 E. Lafayette Street across from the Art Under a Tin Roof gallery. Take your date to Miss Ollie's for a romantic night of cocktails and soothing piano music - did we mention it's a piano bar? The dance floor can be used for special parties while maintaining the intimacy of the piano bar. For more classy entertainment, dare your date to a game of billiards on purple felted tables. Use Miss Ollie's as your after-dinner destination for an intimate end to the evening.

Flatiron Grill

One of the more well known romantic dinner locations, the Flatiron Grill (in the Columns, next to Hobby Lobby), brings a touch of fine cuisine amidst Jackson's myriad of chain steakhouses. The one-of-a-kind restaurant has subtle decorating touches in a soft, intimate atmosphere. The menu ranges from steaks, salmon and seafood to burgers, sandwiches, and chef-designed entre specials.

Neely House

Another downtown Jackson gem, the Neely House, at 575 South Royal Street, is now on the National Historic Registrar. Stay a night at the hotel or just enjoy a romantic dinner at Caf Capone's. Check with management to see when the next live music is scheduled, often soft jazz guitar to set the perfect mood for your date. Go early enough to shop at the unique shops before dinner.

Highland Place Bed and Breakfast

This Colonial Revival mansion from 1911 is a great romantic getaway spot without leaving Jackson. Call a sitter and spend a night in one of the four elegant guest rooms with queen size beds and private baths. Cotton linens, comfy robes, and cable TV make your night comfortable.

Each of the four guest rooms is named after previous owners of the mansion and has its own unique atmosphere. The Louis Room is named for the family who originally built the home in 1911. Warm neutrals complement the Plantation pine furniture and the bathroom has a stained glass window and a whirlpool bath and shower.

The Butler Suite has bright poppy tones and a vintage claw-foot bathtub. It connects to the Highland Suite with a convertible sofa for larger parties if needed. Wall's Atrium gives a Southwest flair with the adobe-style gas log fireplace, a skylight, double showerheads in the bath and warm ceramic tiles.

For the most romantic getaway request the Hamilton Room with a media center for your choice of mood setting music, a fireplace, four-poster walnut and cherry queen bed, crackled Italian wall finish, and an extra-large soaking tub.

The public areas are filled with Southwest art and American pottery. Antique French country pine armoires and chests go with the silk sofas and leather lounge chairs. A cherry paneled library has a wood-burning fireplace for a relaxing evening in.

Dine out in Jackson, or stay hidden by taking advantage of the romantic dinner option. Your choice of a grilled entre in a complete five-course dinner prepared to order.

The next morning fill up on a gourmet breakfast of waffles, pancakes, French toast, eggs or whatever else you can convince Cindy to whip up. Fresh coffee, teas, fruits, and other trimmings complete the meal. Located at 519 North Highland Avenue and surrounded by towering oaks and magnolias.
