If you live in, or are planning a visit to Southern West Virginia, you have discovered that the regional cuisine is one of the many attractions here. It is a lot of fun to try a new restaurant every night of the week. This changes a bit if you are planning a romantic dinner for two. The Mountain State offers many family oriented restaurant choices, but our romantic dinner venues are a well kept secret. I am going to share a few of my favorite romantic dinner destinations.

There is nothing more romantic than an intimate Italian dinner. Chef Dan's Restaurant is located at 222 Leon Sullivan Way in Charleston, West Virginia. This is the perfect restaurant for a casual, yet romantic evening. Chef Dan's offers up really authentic Italian cuisine for a moderate price (dinner for two is less than $50). The recently updated decor sets a relaxing and romantic mood. It is not unheard of for Chef Dan himself to serve your dinner. After having a delicious meal of Chef Dan's spectacular manicotti, make the evening even more romantic by sharing a desert of tirimisu. Chef Dan's is a Charleston favorite, so be prepared to wait for seating.

Southern West Virginia offers an assortment of fun Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurant choices, but for a romantic evening, head to Campespre Mexican Restaurant. This authentic, and very romantic restaurant is located at 1914 Harper Road, in Beckley, West Virginia. The decor of Campespre is toned down from the typical flashy Mexican Restaurant fare. Throw in the muted lighting at Campespre, and you are all set for your romantic evening. I personally recommend the Enchilada Supreme, it is the best that I have ever tasted. The prices at Campespre are low, but beware, this romantic Mexican restaurant offers cuisine that has a little more kick than other Mexican restaurants in the area.

If you are looking for a storybook setting for your romantic dinner, make reservations at Laury's Restaurant. This romantic French restaurant is located at 350 Maccorkle Avenue Se. in Charleston, West Virginia. Situated in a historic train station, Laury's restaurant offers a full bar, gorgeous romantic decor, as well as the best French cuisine in the state. This romantic dinner destination is a little higher priced than the previous two restaurants, but it is well worth it for that special evening. Be prepared to dress the part, Laury's does have a dress code. Call 304-343-0055 for reservations, and ask to be seated in the balcony for the ultimate romantic dinner experience.

If you choose to go off the beaten path, Southern West Virginia is a great place to explore. In Charleston, you can park downtown and have your pick of out-of-the-way romantic restaurant choices. New restaurants are opening on a regular basis, and the chance of you and your someone special finding the perfect romantic dinner setting is a sure thing.
