Theme Night
Decide on a theme for the dinner, by picking a specific type of cuisine. Decorate your home and the dining area in that same theme. If you're making Italian, then place an old Chianti bottle in the center of the table and set a white candle inside. Light the candle when you serve dinner. Play traditional music relating to the cuisine, in the background. Make dishes that are just big enough for two or make a little extra, for serving each other later in bed. The Recipe Link has several recipes for couples, including chicken skewers, fajitas and ceasar salad.
Romantic Picnic for Two
Change the atmosphere of your home, making a space that's solely for the two of you. Lay down a plaid blanket in the living room and serve dinner on top of the blanket. Light a small fire or if you don't have a fireplace, then arrange candles around the room, turn off the lights and light the candles. A cheese fondue or chocolate fondue is perfect for your romantic picnic dinner. Serve cheese fondue with bread, cooked pieces of chicken or beef and raw vegetables. For the chocolate fondue, offer fresh fruit, marshmallows and sugar or shortbread cookies. Don't worry if you drop anything on the floor because the blanket will pick those up.
Take it Back to the Beginning
Turn back time, by taking your partner on a romantic trip down food lane. Pick one location for drinks, another for appetizers, another for dinner and a final place for dessert. Choose locations that relate to your lives together or places that have meaning in your relationship. For example, have drinks in a bar you frequented in college and have dinner at the restaurant where you had your first date. Places you went on early dates, the location where you first met, the site of your engagement or even the location of your rehearsal dinner all have a meaningful place in your relationship history.
