The most spectacular romantic gift of love between couples on special holidays happens to be materialistic ones, for example jewelry. I prefer other romantic gifts of the heart but Valentine's Day is one of the most popular days to receive an engagement ring. A symbol representing a promise to share monogamous love until death do you part. Marriage is a true romantic gift to be cherished, but in our world today marriage happens to not be the only gift of commitment. Relationships are varied, heterosexual or not, co-habitating or not, still the search for the perfect romantic gift seems to be difficult for people.
Expense doesn't have to be the true value of a romantic gift, especially this year with the economic difficulties. More important than spending money on an expensive romantic gift may be your understanding of your partner, realizing what they truly value as a romantic gift, whether it's a Sears drill kit, a single rose, a love letter, a romantic dinner, or a simple kiss they desire.
A love letter is a romantic gift of love to be treasured. In this day of texting, IM, and e-mails, the art of letter writing has been cast to the side. In my romantic fiction words have to express love to touch my readers. The romantic era when men and women took special detail to share romantic passion of words with poetry, such as in the sonnet, "How Do I Love Thee, Let Me Count the Ways," has long faded away. The movie, "A Message in A Bottle," is so poignant due to a love letter. Taking time to put your romantic words of love down on paper, to give to the one you love, can be considered a truly priceless gift. To make it more of a romantic gift you only have to do something as simple as hide it to be discovered later. Slip it in a pocket, hide it in a drawer, on a bathroom mirror, place it under a dinner plate, or even on a pillow. Don't let the thought of writing drive you crazy. A simple, "I love you," with a comment on what you appreciate the most about your partner may be all you need. And women, believe it or not, men do appreciate a love note though they may not own up to it.
A photo frame with a picture of the two of you doing an adventure you enjoyed is another unique romantic gift. The most precious romantic gift I ever received was a framed photo of a sunset I viewed with my partner. When I accidently dropped the frame one day months later accidently breaking it, I found a hidden love letter behind it, just waiting for the day when I'd accidently find it.
Of course flowers are considered to be a romantic gift, but take time to carefully think about your selection. Rather than buying the standard dozen roses, consider a flower your mate adores. One long stemmed rose may be more romantic than a dozen. The sweet sixteen corsage your mate constantly talks about could be a romantic gift that'll stir up wonderful memories of innocent love. I don't know if I'll go as far as giving a dandelion bundle even if they do like them, but if it really makes your partner truly happy why not. Men do appreciate flowers as a romantic gift too, so why not give him a plant for his office. I believe flowers should be appreciated while we're alive, so go crazy and try to be different. Remember, flowers can be given on non-occasions as a spontaneous romantic gift of love also.
We carefully schedule appointments for work and family activities, why not schedule an appointment to celebrate your gift of love with your mate. On Valentine's Day make a sincere plan to share private time together and renew the reasons you first fell in love. Romance after the glow of hormones in the initial phase of a relationship is something put aside. You have to nurture it, and it won't be considered work. It's a romantic gift you can unwrap and play with, not bury in the closet. If you have children it's fine to let them know parents need quiet time alone. You'll teach them the importance of respect and love in a relationship.
Have you thought about renewing your wedding vows, even in a simple ceremony for the two of you alone? Let your partner know you appreciate their romantic gift of love as much as when you first made a commitment. Go out there and celebrate.
How about encouraging your mate to go out and do the thing they've always wanted to do but never had the opportunity to do it. If they've wanted to try their hand at painting, offer them a gift of an art class, or buy them painting equipment. If they've always wanted to bowl, buy them a pair of bowling shoes. If you can manage to help fulfill your mates hidden fantasy or dream, try to offer it as your romantic gift of love, unless it's something totally insane or out of your reach. I'm sure your considerate gift will be wildly appreciated on Valentine's Day.
If your mates been asking you to do something that you've put off or denied repeatedly, why not make this your romantic gift? No arguing or debate allowed.
Romantic gifts don't have to cost if you really think about it. When you give of your heart or express your love, you will receive a gift in return.
One last easy romantic gift of love to consider is to express love verbally every day if this is something you've strayed away from. A simple, "I love you," with a full kiss and not a quick peck on the cheek, can be the best romantic gift to say, "Happy Valentine's Day."
