Need some romantic songs for Valentine's Day? Here's my romance music playlist. I taken songs from different genres and countries. I've also included my favorite versions of the songs.
Moon River From the haunting love story Breakfast at Tiffany's, Audrey Hepburn serenades George Peppard with a small guitar and this lovely tune.
Con Ti Partiro (Time to Say Goodbye) Andrea Bochelli's beautiful tribute to Italy makes a great love song.
Hallelujah Leonard Cohen (Rufus Wainwright version from Shrek) erotic to the point of obsessive and eerie, this song is actually a pretty old song.
Lascia qu'io Pianga Emotional to the point of angry, this aria from Handel's Rinaldo, speaks of longing and desire. Most people prefer the Sarah Brightman version, but I think that Barbara Streisand and Hayley Westenra sing this love song best.
Without You from the Australian duo Air Supply, this song is just one of the many love songs written by these beautiful singers. And the only version worth hearing is the original.
I Bless the Rains Down in Africa by Toto is powerful, plaintive and very sensual.
Red, Red Wine UB40 from Great Britian sings this reggae-ish love song with lots of passion and rhythm.
Unchained Melody The Righteous Brothers original version or Il Divo's Italian version. Both are intense songs with passion.
I'm Yours Jason Mraz. What's not to love about a hot guy singing a hot love song?
Oh Danny Boy and When Irish Eyes are Smilin' A tribute to my Irish side (maiden name Kinney)
In the Summertime fun, upbeat song just for laughs. Who else but Mungo Jerry; the nice people who put the funk in folk!
Speak Softly Love from The Godfather. Many lovely versions of this haunting and tender song.
Ravel's Bolero Sensual and erotic latin rhythm.
Fanfare for the Common Man Aaron Copeland's masterpiece is not a love song to a person but to an ideal. Fanfare is a lush, large gorgeous piece of symphonic music.
Bizet's Carmen is a very romantic opera. My favorite piece is the well-known Habanera. And that's just what it is 'habanera' Hot!
When Your Gone Matchbox 20 Raw, edgy love song.
Last but not least, I have to add a not-necessarily-the-usual love song Rock Candy by Montrose and Sammy Hagar. Loud, vulgar all American rock at it's best. Lust song might be a more apt description! Happy Valentine's Day!

Post a CommentA nice excursion off the basic Top 40 path! Thanks.
Interesting choices, Mar. I haven't thought about the Toto tune in ages!
I love this list. Sometimes it is not about the words, but the rhythm.
