If you're heading out for a romantic date, perhaps for Valentine's Day or a special anniversary, Detroit has a few romantic restaurants to suit your tastes.

The Whitney. One of the most well- known romantic restaurants in Detroit is the Whitney. The Whitney is a historic location housed in a mansion. It became a restaurant in 1894. You'll find multiple floors for dining and a range of high quality entrees and deserts. You and your date can also choose from a variety of wines. Dining at the Whitney is not cheap. Be prepared to spend some money there on your romantic date. If you like historic buildings and ambiances, then consider this restaurant. The Whitney is closed on Sunday nights and Mondays. Mario's Italian Restaurant. Another romantic dining option for your date would be Mario's Italian Restaurant. This is the one of the ideal places to dine if you and your date like Italian foods and to have a good wine with your dinner. Mario's Italian Restaurant also offers a lunch menu for early romantic dates. Entrees at Mario's include Ricotta Lasanga for $19.95, Egg Plant Parmesan for $17.95 and Broiled Spring Chicken. Giovanni's Ristorante. Also ranked high on the list for romantic restaurants in Detroit is Giovanni's. This restaurant features a variety of Italian dishes including Pesto Pomodoro, Melanzane Parmigiana and Pesce alla Francesca. Giovanni's hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Giovanni's isn't open on Sundays. Giovanni's is at 330 S. Rattlesnake Club. The Rattlesnake Club gets a lot of high reviews and fanfare so you may want to check them out for your romantic dinner date. Among the Rattlesnake Club's menu offerings are American cuisine dishes beer short ribs, filet of prime certified angus beef and roasted wild alaskan halibut.     Great list! I think I'd stay clear of the Rattlesnake Restaurant just because of its icky name. Ha.
