Seattle is known for being the casual, laid back city in the upper left corner of the continental United States. For the steak lovers, El Gaucho, located just north of downtown Seattle in Belltown, is a good bet. One might expect Humphrey Bogart to be hanging out near the piano recommending a bottle off the extensive wine menu. For the flashy displays, chose the flaming swords where meat is caught fire and then extinguished before being served or the Caesar salad where the salad dressing is prepared at the table.

Steaks range in the $50 range with sides and salads extra. As you might expect, wine is sold by the bottle and can run the gamut in price.

The Alibi Room, located in an alley in Pike Place Market might seem like a strange pick for a date night. Their menu consists of typical Seattle area salads and upscale pizzas, but the atmosphere cannot be beat. In contrast with its name, the candlelit room allows for intimate dining. The full bar makes good cocktails but also offers draft beer to accompany the pizza.

With entrees running in the $15 dollar range, the prices are fantastic for weeknight date night or a fun last minute stop after work. For the frugal diner, Alibi Room offers Happy Hour every day of the week with bargain priced beer, well drinks, and food from the menu.

Seattle boasts a fair number of romantic restaurants or date night restaurants and Palisade, El Gaucho, and Alibi Room are just a few of the fantastic ones in the city at different price points. Whether you want to lay out a little or a lot of money for a fantastic evening, Seattle has many excellent choices. Now you just need to decide on what to wear.
