1741 on the Terrace is a lovely, fine-dining experience right in the heart of historic downtown Bethlehem. Located inside the hotel, the dining room boasts original, hand-crafted Moravian tiles on the floor and floor-to-ceiling arched windows overlooking the city and South Mountain where the Bethlehem Star shines every night of the year. The chefs use local, seasonal ingredients to create a delicious, menu that changes with what's fresh at the moment so you can experience different entrees each time you visit. Enjoy soups, salads, raw bar choices, and entrees ranging from beef to poultry to seafood. Everything I've tried here has been delicious, from grilled fish with roasted asparagus to cream of mushroom soup drizzled with truffle oil. There are also vegetarian options, and this romantic restaurant in the Lehigh Valley offers an impressive wine list to accompany your meal. The dining room has low lighting and candles, and I never felt rushed, just encouraged to enjoy my meal amidst beautiful surroundings. This is a great spot to enjoy delicious food and wine while having a relaxing, romantic evening.

The Farmhouse

Main Courses: $20-$36

If you're looking to romance your significant other in a rustic, intimate setting like something out of a painting, then The Farmhouse will provide the perfect evening for you. This romantic restaurant is in an old farmhouse with thick walls and rustic charm. The dining area is broken up into a series of smaller rooms, yet each table has an intimate feeling. My husband and I were tucked away in an alcove by the window, and even though there were larger parties of diners in the room with us, we felt like we were all alone, enjoying an intimate dinner for two. Chef Michael Adams believes in fresh farm-to-table dining, and his menu uses local, seasonal ingredients, many of which he grows himself. The menu is always changing, yet always delicious. His beer pairings are wonderful as well; one look at the wine and spirits list and you'll see why. Just about any beer from around the world can be found here; my husband who loves imported brews was in heaven. The staff is courteous and friendly, and you'll have a great time leisurely enjoying your courses in a lovely, romantic atmosphere.

Bolete is Latin for mushroom, but you'll find much more on this fresh, seasonal menu that changes daily. Located in a 200-year-old Inn, Bolete is owned and run by Chef Lee Chizmar and Erin Shea, who believe in an intimate dining experience where the chef prepares everything himself and the hospitality makes you feel welcomed, like family. The menu changes daily with whatever's freshest, and everything is made in-house, to order. To get an idea of the foods they serve, a seasonal menu is always on the website, but call for more specifics. There is always at least one vegetarian option as well, even if you don't see it printed. The Inn provides a romantic atmosphere, making Bolete the perfect date restaurant in the Lehigh Valley. Here, you can sit back, savor the conversation with your food and wine, and get an unhurried, relaxed experience, tailored to your tastes. If you're looking for a romantic way to unwind and spend an evening, then look no further than Bolete.
