Five Superb Choices for Valentine's Day Dining

Dining out as a couple is always a pleasure, but there's something extra special about dining out on Valentine's Day. If you're looking for a memorable place in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for dining this Valentine's Day, these eateries may be just what Cupid ordered:

Boulevard Steakhouse

Boulevard Steakhouse was founded in December 1998 and is located in Edmond at the intersection of 5th and Boulevard. Boulevard Steakhouse is an upscale steakhouse located in a neighborhood setting.

Menu items include appetizers such as spicy calamari or cajun tournedos; soup and salad selections that include portobello mushroom soup or fresh mozzarella and vine-ripened tomatoes. Entrée selections prime steak diablo, chicken oscar or shrimp boulevard are among the many choices awaiting diners. All steaks served at the Boulevard Steakhouse are custom-aged, hand-cut USDA prime beef and are seasoned with kosher salt, black pepper and butter.

The wine selection at Boulevard Steakhouse has received rave reviews.

Dress is business casual; no jacket or tie required. A la carte menu. The average tab of a meal for two people, depending on what/how many beverages are consumed with the meal and whether market-priced items are selected or not is $150.00.

Deep Fork Grill

Located on the northeast corner of I-44 and Western Avenue, Deep Fork Grill offers a white tablecloth dining experience at moderate prices.

Pasta, pizza, steak, chicken and seafood are among the many menu items and priced from $12-75 per entrée, with the average price being less than $30 per entrée A la carte menu.

When trying to provide a sampling of what Deep Fork Grill's menu includes, it's diversity is immediately noted. Pasta offerings include steak fettuccine or angry peppers; pizza offerings have such delightful toppings as shrimp, blank Angus beef or bacon and spinach. Appetizers include a fruit and cheese platter or smoked salmon, among others.

In the soup and salad category there are selection such as "world famous clam chowder" or pecan chicken salad. Sandwich selections are also varied and include such items as a Reuben sandwich, bleu rye, or shaved prime rib.

House specialties for Deep Fork Grill are listed as rack of lamb, cedar plank salmon, breast of duck, ribeye and filet. Or, for an extra special meal, let Executive Chef Clay Falkner feed you a four course meal at $65/person.

Rococo Restaurant and Wine Bar

Another fine dining experience within the heart of Oklahoma City is Rococo Restaurant and Wine Bar, located at 2824 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, the site of the former Tony's Italian Specialties. Rococo's opened its doors in June 2004 and hasn't looked back since. Chef owned by Bruce Rinehart, who brings more than thirty years of experience in venues such as Boston, the restaurant offers an east-coast style of restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere while offering quality service and fine food and wines.

Rococo's offers seating in their main dining room, in their "gangster" booths, at the bar, or lounging in the leather chairs or sofa near the fireplace.

For Valentine's Day, along with Rococo's usual menu, there will be a Love Salad-an anti-pasta type salad served family style for two, Rococo's interpretation of Chateaubriand and a surf and turf offering.

Rococo's menu offers more than 25 appetizers, and entrees include steaks and seafood. The food served has distinctive Italian, French and Asian influences.

Owner Bruce Rinehart relates that entrees range from $25-100/person. Reservations are required for Valentine's Day and may be made by calling 405-528-2824.

Inspirations Tea Room

Inspirations Tea Room in Edmond, Oklahoma-just northeast of Oklahoma City proper-located at 2118 W. Edmond Road, offers a different sort of dining experience than do the steakhouses and grills, but still one that imbues romance and offers a tranquil setting for fine dining.

In addition to the traditional offerings at Inspirations Tea Room, for the Valentine's Day weekend the eatery will be open evening hours on February 13th and 14th, serving a dinner of brisket and chicken, twice baked potato and vegetable at $15.95/person.

Also for those two days, Inspirations Tea Room will be offering a Valentine's Day 3-tier tea tray for $15.95/person.

Freshly baked scones and homemade lemon curd are served with each meal and are in keeping with Inspirations Tea Room's motto of "English charm served with Southern hospitality."

The Coach House

Located within Oklahoma City in the Nichols Hills Plaza at 6437 Avondale Road, the Coach House restaurant offers world-class cuisine in a superbly elegant atmosphere. Chris Lower opened the Coach House restaurant in 1985 after having sold his successful Roosevelt Grill in nearby Edmond, Oklahoma.

Not only has the Coach House been a place where world-renowned chefs have come as guest chefs to treat the restaurant patrons, but the Coach House also has a two-and-a-half year apprenticeship program for aspiring chefs.

The Coach House has a long tradition of special events for Valentine's Day, and this year is no different. What is different this year is that the events will be for two nights, February 13th and February 14th. There will be two seatings for dinner guests on those nights; the first at 6PM, the second at 8:30PM.

At each seating, there will be a prix fixe six course menu that includes white wine, red wine and champagne for $100/person.

Because this event is held annually, there are some couples who book ahead year to year. Early reservations are encouraged. Call 405-842-1000 to book your reservation.
