Romantic Themed Wines for Valentine's Day

Bunchwacky
"A jug of wine, a loaf of bread, and thou." The bread and thou are fairly easy to come up with, but finding the right romantic wine for Valentine's Day may prove a little more problematic. This guide will show you five of the better ideas out there to cover most situations and pocketbooks.

Marquis de Sade Champagne Brut Reserve - Michael Gonet Champagne, France

For the more adventurous couple, why not go with a bottle of champagne named after one of the spicier characters in history! The Marquis was renowned for his sadomasochistic tendencies and deviant sexual appetites. While a champagne, it hints quite a bit of Chardonnay. This is a very fruity champagne. This wine makes a fine addition to appetizers like pate or with smoked meats. This is also fairly affordable at $40 a bottle.

2006 Seduction - O'Brien Estate, Napa Valley

The name says it all. Valentine's Day and Seduction go hand in hand. This award winning red wine is all about the wild berry and black cherry overtones. This serves as an excellent dessert wine, served with a box of fine chocolates or fruit like strawberries or cherries.

2006 Seduction runs about $45 a bottle. It is also available in a gift box/bag for $48.

Saint Amour Beaujolais - Les Vins Georges Duboeuf

With its flowery label and being named after love itself, this wine makes a perfect addition to any Valentine's Day. This is a fine light red with fruity overtones and a floral hint.

Depending on the year, this wine runs about $10-15.

All the selections from Il Cuore Wine Cellars feature a large heart on the label. The wines are available are Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Rosso Classico, Barberra and Rose.

Prices range from $10 for the Rose to $18 for the Cabernet Sauvignon
