Romantic Valentine's Day Date Ideas in the San Antonio Area

Pullan Corson
There are tons of great restaurants in the San Antonio area and you may have tried some of them but here are a couple of favorites. Try to make reservations early because some of these places are small and popular!

1. The Vineyard: Located in Garden Ridge (just beyond Natural Bridge Caverns), the Vineyard Restaurant is a beautiful spot for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner. The Vineyard is located on an actual vineyard in the Texas Hill Country so the views from any part of the restaurant are amazing. The menu us small but refined with gourmet dishes to please any foodie. I tried the vegetable lasagna and was not disappointed. As to be expected, the wine list is extensive making this a great place to share a glass over candlelight.

2. The Liberty Bar: This restaurant right near the Pearl Brewery oozes atmosphere. It is located in a house that looks like it is about to fall down and the creaky wooden floors add to the ambiance. This is a foodie's delight with such dishes as javelin sausage and lamb burgers. A personal favorite is the fruit plate with gruyere cheese and blackberry sauce. As the name suggests, they have a full bar with cocktails, wine and beer available and expertly mixed.

3. The Gristmill: If you've never been to Gruene, you have to go and the Gristmill is not to be missed. This is for true Texas romantics. The Gristmill has a full menu of Texas favorites served inside the old gristmill or on the porch overlooking the Guadalupe River. I love to order the fried Texas catfish with a side of Gruene beans (green beans cooked with bacon, yum!). The Gristmill is steps away from Gruene Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texas, where there is always live music so you can two-step your way through the rest of your Valentine's date, cheek to cheek with your love.
