Romantic Valentine's Day Gifts for Women

Heather Belle
Many men find themselves a complete mess at just the thought of trying to find a romantic Valentine's Day gift for the woman in their life. But, calm down. The stress that you are causing yourself worrying if you are going to find the perfect, romantic gift is all for nothing. Just the idea that you even remembered Valentine's Day is going to mean something to the woman in your life, so start with that thought and then, just brainstorm for a personal gift that you know will mean a lot to your significant other.

Build-A-Bear - This is a store where you literally build a bear (or dog, cat, bunny, pretty much any animal of your choice that they carry.) But, what makes this so romantic and a great Valentine's Day gift is that everything is completely customized from you.

If you have a store near you (www.buildabear.com), head on in. You will be able to pick an un-stuffed animal (most of the time, for under $20.00). Then, suck up your pride and have fun with stuffing the animal of your choosing.

One of the Build-A-Bear helpers will have you pick a stuffed heart; you will be told to do several things to bring that heart to life (jump up and down, rub it on your heard so your animal will be smart, etc.) You will make a wish for the lady in your life, put the heart inside the animal, and then the helper will show you how to add the stuffing. Yes, you are a full grown man jumping up and down with a stuffed heart to bring it to life, but grin and bear it. Your girlfriend/fiancé/wife is going to get a kick out of the story when you tell her what you did for her; and, even if you think it is silly, she will think it is romantic.

After you have stuffed your animal is when the really fun part begins; you can dress your animal up in any type of clothing or costume you could possibly imagine. They have everything from little tuxedos, to some Disney characters, to everyday street clothing. They have a ton of accessories, too - shoes, hats, stuffed roses, etc. After your stuffed animal is decked out in its outfit, you go to a computer and name it. You can make it a fun, goofy, or sweet name, depending upon what the woman in your life would enjoy.

Your animal will be packed up in a box (that resembles a small house), along with its birth certificate (which will show when you made it, who it is from, who it is for, and what you named it.) Put a bow on the outside of the box, add a card, and this is one of the sweetest, most thoughtful, and romantic Valentine's Day gifts that you could make for your girlfriend/fiancé/wife.

And, have no fear. If there is not a location near you, or if you are not quite up to making your stuffed animal in front of other people, you can always visit the website (www.buildabear.com) and make a customized animal to have shipped directly to you (or, to your Valentine's office on Valentine's Day.) A basic animal and outfit will normally cost you under $40.00; but, remember that you will have to add in the cost of shipping if your order online.

Godiva Chocolate - Most women love chocolate, and a common Valentine's Day gift is, of course, chocolate. But, instead of heading straight to your local grocery store and picking up one of those sometimes tacky heart shaped boxes (you know, the ones with the cartoon character on the front), head to Godiva instead. (You can find locations or shop online at www.godiva.com).

Godiva is a more expensive brand of chocolate than you will find at your grocery store, but the quality definitely makes up for the price. And, they have Valentine's Day gift boxes, baskets, and arrangements made up to make your selection even easier. They have small boxes of chocolates and heart-shaped chocolate lollipops that begin around $5.00 up to medium and large heart-shaped boxes for $70.00 and up. The heart-shaped boxes that their chocolates come in are made of velvet, organza, or satin; these boxes are something your Valentine can keep for years to come as opposed to the cardboard heart-shaped box you would find at Wal-Mart, Target, etc.

Or, if you do not want to stick to anything that is Valentine's Day related, they always have a wide variety to choose from; you can also pick up some fresh, chocolate covered strawberries to share at the end of the night with your Valentine.

This is a great, traditional romantic gift for Valentine's Day; and, if your Valentine loves chocolate, she will enjoy the richness that is Godiva chocolates.

Zale's Jewelry - If you want to buy a romantic Valentine's Day gift that adds a little shine to your Valentine's life, I would highly suggest checking out Zales. (www.zales.com) They have an entire section on the website that is devoted to Valentine's Day gifts for her, and you can break down that section even further by price or piece (ring, necklace, bracelet, earrings, etc.).

If you are not working with a limited budget, a very common ring for Valentine's Day is a three stone ring (which typically stands for today, tomorrow, and forever or yesterday, today, tomorrow depending on how you want to explain it to your Valentine.) These rings begin in a 1/4 CT. T.W. and go up from there. If you are unsure of what you are looking for on the website, you can head in to your local sales for more help. But, no matter what type of jewelry you purchase, this gift idea will be a hit on Valentine's Day.

The personal Valentine's Day gifts are the ones that are romantic; as long as she knows you put some time and thought in to your gift instead of picking up a dried-up rose on your way home because it is all the grocery store had left, your Valentine's Day gift will mean the world to her.
