The 5 Best Romantic Valentine's Day Movies of All Time

Michelle Radowich
Valentine's Day is the most romantic day of the year when everybody's thoughts turn to love. There are numerous things you can do to show how much you love someone on Valentine's day, but what is better than curling up on the couch with the one you love and watching a romantic movie? With this in mind, I have compiled a list of the top 5 most romantic Valentine's Day movies of all time.

Number one on my list of the most romantic Valentine's Day movies of all time is Casablanca. Starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, Casablanca has to be the most romantic movie of all time and is perfect for Valentine's day. Set in world war II, Rick (Bogart) an exiled American runs a night club in the African city of Casablanca. Rick is surprised when his one time love Ilsa walks into his club. Ilsa (Bergman) left Rick in Paris, but when Rick finds that there was good reason for her to leave then the love affair develops once more. Casablanca is the all time classic love affair gone wrong and is a perfect choice for number 1 on the all time list of romantic Valentine's day movies.

Number two on my list of the most romantic Valentine's Day movies of all time is Titanic (1997). Staring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, this is a true story of tragic love. Jack Dawson (DiCaprio) and Rose DeWitt Bukater (Winslet) come from very different backgrounds; Jack is a poor artist and Rose is a rich heiress, but both are heading to the new world to change their lives. The story tells how Rose, who is unhappy with her life, falls for the drifter Jack and the love affair begins. Tragedy strikes however, but not before the love they have for each other changes their lives forever. Titanic is a true love story adapted for the screen and is well deserving of the number 2 spot on my all time top 5 most romantic Valentine's Day movies.

Number three on my list of the most romantic Valentine's Day movies of all time is Ghost. Staring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore, Ghost tells how love can conquer all - even death. Sam (Swayze) and Molly (Moore), very much in love, are walking back from a movie theater when a thief attacks and kills Sam. Sam, though dead, finds himself trapped on earth as a ghost. He discovers that his death was no accident and has to warn Molly that she is also in danger. As the story unfolds we see the depth of the love Sam and Molly had for each other. This movie is bound to make even men cry and is a wonderful choice for number 3 in my top 5 best romantic Valentine's Day movies of all time.

Number four on my list of the most romantic Valentine's Day movies of all time is Pride and Prejudice. Based on Jane Austin's classic novel, this humorous story of five sisters whose world is turned upside down by the arrival of two very eligible bachelors. Set in 18th century rural England, Pride and Prejudice follows the exploits of the five sisters and two suiters as they search for love and wealth. This slightly comical depiction of 18th century England is a delightful look at love in a time of prudence and well deserves to be number 4 in my top 5 best romantic Valentine's Day movies of all time.

Number five on my list of the most romantic Valentine's Day movies of all time is Gone With the Wind. Arguably the most romantic movie of all time it is in my opinion number 5. Gone with the Wind, set during the American civil war in the 1860, tells of Scarlett O'Hara. Scarlett is a stunningly beautiful daughter of a plantation owner who is very determined to get her own way in all things - including men. Scarlett sets her sights on Ashley, but there is always another man in the story - Rhett Butler. Gone with the wind, an epic 4 hour movie, has been called the best movie of all time and is a well worthy of the number 5 spot in my top 5 best romantic Valentine's Day movies of all time.

I hope you all have a wonderful and romantic Valentine's Day and I hope my list of romantic Valentine's Day Movies help you enjoy the occasion.
