Come for a wonderfully romantic weekend in the Village of Corrales, a historic Spanish farming village located south of Santa Fe, New Mexico, nestled below the breathtaking Sandia Mountains.
The Village offers unique and charming alternatives for art, shopping and dining. Hundreds of artists and craftsmen reside in Corrales, and their creations are available in the galleries and shops located along Corrales Road. There are two wineries within the Village. The Village is a wonderful escape from the fast paced urban areas and the overwhelming crowds of Santa Fe.
The Chocolate Turtle Bed and Breakfast is a wonderful destination for your overnight stay in this unique pastoral village. The B&B is located at 1098 West Meadowlark Lane in Corrales (505 899-1800). Their website is www.chocolateturtlebb.com.
The Chocolate Turtle provides a warm, comfortable, relaxed environment for you stay. The B&B is a southwestern style home located in a pastoral setting on one and one-half acres. Bright southwestern colors provide the background for the local art, including Native American pottery, wood carvings, paintings and rugs through the B&B.
The B&B is surrounded by gardens of native plants and a large patio provides a perfect setting to enjoy the surrounding Southwestern landscape. The view of the Sandia Mountains from the patio is truly breathtaking. Native wildlife on the property includes birds, bunnies, quail and roadrunners. They are a delight to watch.
The Chocolate Turtle offers wonderful amenities. A wonderful full gourmet breakfast is served each morning and complimentary snacks and drinks are available throughout the day. Free wireless internet access is available, as well Cable TV with premium channels, newspapers and Southwestern magazines. The inn is open year 'round and is air-conditioned.
The unique rooms available at the B&B have private baths and colorful Southwestern décor. Fresh flowers, hairdryers, alarm clocks and, of course, chocolate turtles are provided in each room.
The Chocolate Turtle B&B is centrally located within the Village of Corrales. Casual and sophisticated dining is available within the Village, from pizzerias to fine restaurants.
Enjoy a memorable romantic dinner at one of two excellent restaurants serving a variety of upscale new American cuisine for lunch and dinner. The Indigo Crow is located at 4515 Corrales Rd. (505-898-7000) and Casa Vieja is located at 4541 Corrales Rd. (505-898-7489).
Both restaurants are located in historic Spanish adobe brick buildings, not uncommon for the restaurants, shops and galleries throughout Corrales. Casa Vieja, my favorite of the two restaurants, is located in a 300 year old building, complete with the original kiva fireplaces in each of the small, intimate dining rooms.
Wonderful gourmet breakfasts are served at the Chocolate Turtle during your stay, but another unique restaurant that is highly recommended is Hannah and Nates. Hannah and Nates is a local family owned restaurant serving both breakfast and lunch in Corrales. They are located at 4512 Corrales Rd (505-898-2370). Visit Hannah and Nates for an extraordinary salad or sandwich.
While you are enjoying your relaxing and romantic weekend away you must pay a visit to the Corrales Bosque Gallery. The Gallery is located near the restaurants on Corrales Rd at 4685 Corrales Rd (505 898-7203). Bosque Gallery is my favorite gallery in Corrales and is a contemporary gallery owned and operated by New Mexico artists. They show wonderfully diverse media, including painting, sculpture, prints, ceramics, glass, fiber, photography and jewelry. The art is delightful and you are sure to find something to take home to remind you in the coming months of your romantic weekend in Corrales.
Come for a day and stay for the weekend. The Chocolate Turtle awaits you! Enjoy a most romantic weekend!
