Romantic Weekend Escape in Niagara Falls
Neighborhood: Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls, NY 14301
United States of America
Niagara Falls is a quiet wonder of the world. The magic and phenomenon of this magnificent waterfall is where you should take a romantic weekend escape. Over 12 million tourists visit Niagara Falls each year. The city is relaxing and romantic and has been a popular tourist destination for the past 100 years on both the American and Canadian sides. There are benefits to both sides of the Falls and it depends on the actual atmosphere and recreation you are interested in that will help you decide where to stay.

Here are some reasons why you should consider taking a romantic weekend escape to Niagara Falls, New York.

The American side in Niagara Falls, New York is less tourist focused than the Canadian side. You can get within touching distance of the actual Falls. There are numerous hiking trails along the Niagara escarpment and throughout the Niagara Falls State Park. There are trails for every type of hiker. Walkways through wooded areas with beautiful foliage and flora as well as trails for more experienced hikers down into the Niagara Gorge bringing the hiker up close and personal with the Niagara Rapids. Goat Island is located between the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls and is accessible via a walking or driving bridge. The picturesque paths and scenery compliment the magical Niagara Falls and mysterious Niagara Rapids. Take time to explore on Goat Island and take in the beauty of Three Sisters Islands and Terrapin Point.

Be sure to SEE Niagara Falls at night because the Falls are illuminated with changing colors throughout every season of the year. There are also fireworks in the evening from time to time. During the summer they have fireworks at the Falls on weekends. The combination of the lights on the Falls and the fireworks is a sight to see!

There are a number of fun, educational, and romantic adventures worth experiencing in Niagara Falls!

The Festival Theater is located in the lower level of the Visitor Center. The theater features "Niagara: A History of the Falls". This is a 22-minute film featuring highlights from the two-hour documentary produced by the History Channel.

Maid of the Mist and Cave of the Winds are complete experience-focused Niagara Falls activities. Anyone who has experienced this will tell you that it's worth it! Maid of the Mist is a tour boat ride that takes riders to the foot of the American Falls then into the basin of the fantastic Horseshoe Falls. It's an experience you'll never forget as you journey through turbulent waters with the mist of the Falls engulfing you! This boat ride can be enjoyed by riders of any age. If you're looking for something romantic to do then put this on your list of things to do in Niagara Falls, New York.

Seneca Niagara Casino offers a wide range of gambling activities for people looking to take their chance on a jackpot. They have exquisite hotel accommodations with numerous restaurants and a spa right at their location.

If you're looking for accommodations away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Niagara Falls, there are very nice accommodations within miles of downtown. My personal recommendation would be Quality Inn Niagara Falls (7708 Niagara Falls Blvd). This hotel has Antonio's Restaurant and Banquet facility right on the premises. The restaurant and hotel are family-owned and run. This hotel is centrally located near shopping, specifically Fashion Outlets of Niagara (formerly Factory Outlet Mall).

I am speaking from experience because not only do I live here in Niagara Falls, New York but I've also taken romantic getaways here in Niagara Falls, New York as well. Yes, I stayed close to home and it was still special and romantic! Depending on the season and the time of year, there is always something fun and romantic to do in Niagara Falls, New York!

Great article. I have never been to NF but have a soft spot for it because my parents went on their honeymoon there back in the 1940s.

I love Niagra Falls as I have said before. My preference is the Canadian side and my favorite Hotel there is the New Hilton, which has a great view of the Falls from your suite window. Don't get me wrong, I can't afford it but I go there free by using my credit card creatively (wait here is my next article lol!) I do have to visit Goat Island, since it sounds great and I can't imagine how it feels being right on the edge of Niagra Falls. Super article.
