Atlanta, Georgia will always be one of the most romantic cities that I've been to because that is where I met my husband for the first time. My husband is from England and we first met over the internet back in 2000. We became really good friends after talking for over a year, and decided to meet at the end of 2001. I was attending college in Nashville at the time, and drove to meet up with him in Atlanta, where his flight would be arriving. Although we had already been talking for almost two years, we never officially had a "first date". We spent our first date together walking around Atlanta city. Neither of us were familiar with the city, but decided to go there on a whim since it was close to the airport. We were walking around and came across the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel. We both looked up in awe as we saw an elevator surrounded in tiny lights glitter up to the 73rd story. We actually parked right near the hotel by chance, and didn't realize how close we were standing to it, until we looked up and saw an amazing circular building that seemed to sit in the clouds.

We walked toward the hotel to see if we could take an elevator ride up to the top to view the city. It was already pretty late, so the hotel was very quiet, except for a few business men. We looked for the glass elevator attached to the outside of the building that we saw while we were standing outside. We found out that the same elevator actually takes you up to a Revolving Sun Dial Restaurant. The restaurant was already closed for the night, so we decided we would just go as high up as possible so we could get a good view of Atlanta city. I am not a big fan of heights, but the view was amazing and very romantic.

We loved Downtown Atlanta so much that we decided to stay there for a few nights before heading back to Nashville. We really wanted to stay in the Westin Peachtree Plaza and decided to check rates for two nights. We ended up getting a really good rate since it wasn't very busy. We asked for a room as high up as possible. We were on the 42nd floor which was more than half way up the tower. When we opened the room we were amazed by the view out of the glass window. All of the rooms feature floor to ceiling glass windows. It gives you an amazing feeling like your floating in the sky. You can pull the curtains all the way back and sit in bed and look into the sky, we could not have picked a better hotel. If your afraid of heights you might not want to stand in front of the window looking down. The traditional room was very spacious and luxurious. You will sleep sound on the high count "heavenly beds". You will float away in the clouds at the Westin Peachtree Plaza.

If your looking for a romantic getaway, Atlanta is the perfect city to spend a few nights in. The Westin Peachtree Plaza is perfectly located, and is only a walk away from the Georgia Dome, and Georgia Aquarium. The Peachtree is so romantic you may want to spend your entire time lounging around the hotel. Make plans for a romantic dinner in the Revolving Sun Dial Restaurant. Feast on delicious dishes like Georgia mountain trout, and Pumpkin ravioli. The Westin Peachtree Plaza is the perfect romantic Valentine's day getaway.
