Romantic Weekend Escapes Near Carolina Beach

George
Whisk your sweetheart off her feet and escape to Carolina Beach! Romance, beautiful beaches, and relaxing times await you there. After all, it's not known as "Pleasure Island" for no reason.

My first piece of romantic advice is to rent a cottage or condo there with a water view, either beachfront or soundfront. Carolina Beach Realty online has a complete listing of available rentals ranging from single bed and bath condos to two-bedroom single homes. Renting a condo or house offers many more "comfort" factors that a hotel can't give you, such as a full kitchen for cooking a romantic candlelit dinner, a soft couch for snuggling and watching the romance film you play on the large television, and maybe even a hot tub on the beachfront patio. Now, ask yourself, can a hotel give me that kind of romantic atmosphere?

Wake up Saturday morning and go for fresh, hot donuts from Britt's Donut Shop on the Boardwalk. For decades Britt's has been cooking up delicious, mouth-watering donuts for everyone on the Island. Locals and tourists alike visit Britt's for a yummy breakfast, lunch, or even an evening treat.

The Lake is a wonderful place for you and your loved one to take a walk and rent small paddle boats to cruise around the water with. It's a block over from the ocean, so you can enjoy the breeze and salty air while you enjoy watching the birds and fish in the lake together. In the nights of the summer months, you should take your sweetheart to the free movie being played on a huge screen outdoors at the lake. It's definitely something different and fun.

Whether it's cold outside or in the middle of a scorching summer, you must spend time on the beach. The waters are blue and the sand is filled with seashells of all sizes, shapes, and colors. Nighttime is the most romantic time to walk on the beach, though, of course. The moonlight ripples in the ocean's gently crashing waves. The shore is quiet and deserted. The sand beneath your feet is cold and silky. During the summer, on each Thursday night, there are fireworks being shot over the ocean. It's the most romantic setting!

Dinner reservations should be made for The Deck House, an old church turned into a restaurant. The Deck House, on Charlotte Avenue, is most well-known for its seafood. I personally love their Yellowfin tuna dish. They have a full dinner menu, including fresh salads, and a full bar menu. The atmosphere is relaxed, dark, and candlelit - how romantic!

If you both are into action sports and adventures, charter a fishing trip. It's not your typical sweet, romantic stereotype, but it's unique and you both will enjoy a fun day together. You can go out to the Gulf Stream for Wahoo or Mahi, a few miles offshore for Kings, or inshore for Flounder and Drum. There are boats docked at the Carolina Beach Boat Basin. Walk around and pick out who you want to take you out. (I recommend Fish Dance or the Music Man.) If fishing isn't your thing, rent a kayak and cruise around the southern tip of the island, just past the ferry landing at Ft Fisher.

The beach is a classic site for a romantic weekend escape. So choose Carolina Beach for your getaway. Moonlit waters, shelling, fireworks - there are plenty opportunities for love there!
