The Kansas City area in America's Heartland has a plethora of romantic getaway destinations for you and your partner to enjoy this Valentine's Day. Here's a list of some of the best bed and breakfast inns in the area and some of the amenities they offer, so that you can make a more informed decision for where to go this Valentine's Day. (Note: These bed and breakfast inns are in no particular order.)

1. Woodstock Inn B&B (1212 W Lexington in Independence, Missouri)

Woodstock Inn was voted "Best B&B in Kansas City" in 2001 and 2003, "Most Romantic Hideaway" in 2003 and "Room of the Year" in 2003. The central location in Independence's historical district means there are several area attractions in addition to the rooms and amenities offer at Woodstock. With only 11 guest suites, you can be assured that privacy is a top priority. Room rates range from $98 to $209 per night and include breakfast. In every room, amenities include a food basket, bath robes and a hot tub or whirlpool tub. Other amenities on site include a minibar and board games for a quiet evening. Located nearby is the Harry S. Truman Library and National Frontiers Trail Museum, in addition to art galleries, antique shopping and gourmet dining. Woodstock Inn provides a great atmosphere in a central location, so that if you must leave your room this Valentine's Day, you don't have to go far to have some fun.

2. Gladstone Manor (412 Gladstone Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri)

This picturesque, post-Victorian home in the Historic Northeast area of Kansas City is absolutely breathtaking inside and out. Listed on the National Register of Historic Homes and featuring hardwood floors and antique home décor, Gladstone Manor is the perfect romantic weekend escape for Valentine's Day. Besides being visually breathtaking, Gladstone Manor is set in one of the oldest Kansas City neighborhoods, the Northeast, which features a lot of diversity and ethnic food eateries. It has just three guest suites with rates ranging from $85 to $125 per night, which again includes a full breakfast. The owners are former restaurateurs, which means their food offerings are delicious. Gladstone Manor is within walking distance to the Kansas City Museum and the historic Cliff Drive Scenic Byway. With Union Station, art galleries, casinos and the Country Club Plaza nearby, Gladstone Manor is a hidden romantic weekend escape that's well worth the trip. (Tip: Be sure to check out the garden in back with a koi pond that the owners built and upkeep all on their own.)

3. The Porch Swing Inn (702 East Street in Parkville, Missouri)

What's unique about The Porch Swing Inn in picturesque Parkville, Missouri are the four named rooms and the extra amenity package deals that the owners offer. The Colonel Park room pays tribute to the founder of Parkville, Colonel George S. Park, and the rate is $85 per night. This room is on the main floor so that you can be the first ones at breakfast in the morning. The Molly Brown room goes for $95 per night and is named after Margaret Brown, born in Hannibal, Missouri in 1867. She is better known to you as "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" after her role during the sinking of the Titanic in 1912. The Jesse James Hideaway Room is named for infamous outlaw Jesse James, born in nearby Kearney. For $110 per night, guests enjoy the added luxury of a whirlpool tub in addition to the regular amenities provided in the other rooms. The final room, the Calamity Jane room, covers the entire third floor and includes a two-person whirlpool tub and a large sitting area for $130 per night.

For a truly romantic weekend escape, The Porch Swing Inn has packages ranging from $35 to $55 that include wine, flowers, breakfast in bed and chocolate truffles. The packages are named "Romantic Getaway" and "Sweetheart Package."

These bed and breakfast inns in the Kansas City area provide an intimate weekend escape unlike the traditional romantic vacation. These inns provide country charm at reasonable rates, and be sure to check them out either this Valentine's Day or another romantic weekend.
