Four rooms in the resort lodge are suitable for romantic couples: a room with a king size bed and whirlpool bath, a room with a queen size bed and a gas log fireplace, and standard rooms with a queen size or a king size bed.

If you are a couple who want to savor your winter surroundings, eleven miles of cross country ski trails and one mile of snowshoeing trail are within the Resort's property lines. Skis and snowshoes may be rented at the check-in desk.

Holiday Acres offers special packages for couples like the two Sweetheart Getaway Packages or the Healing Touch Spa Retreat Package. The Sweetheart packages include wine, chocolates, souvenir champagne flutes, and vouchers or certificates for use for rentals or dining at the Resort. The massage part of the Spa Retreat package gives you a choice of eight types of massage for a half hour.

The Three Coins Restaurant and Cocktail Lounge in the main motor lodge at the Resort serves breakfast and dinner. The huge windows of the vaulted pine and log ceilinged restaurant give magnificent views of wintery Lake Thompson. A large heated swimming pool is in the main lodge, a short distance from the one bedroom cottages. Wild Eagle Lodge
This resort complex is situated on a point which juts out between Duck Lake and Lynx Lake in the Eagle River chain of lakes. During the winter, the Wild Eagle Lodge offers special packages a romantic couple will enjoy. The Sweetheart Package includes a two night stay, complete with chocolates, roses, a dining gift certificate, and a choice of wine or champagne. The Honeymoon Package offers everything in the Sweetheart Package plus add ons which may be included in the five night stay: a massage for thirty minutes to an hour, a winter sleigh ride, and snowmobile, cross-country ski, or snowshoe rental for a day. Another special package option is the Winter Adventure Package with two nights lodging, a day of snowshoe or ski rental, and complimentary hot cocoa with souvenir mugs. You may design your own customized romantic package by asking for any of the items named above besides cheesecake, a Sunday brunch, movie tickets, or off-site bowling.

The Resort has two single bedroom lodge homes, both with king size beds. One of the lodge homes ideal for a romantic couple has a whirlpool bath and the other has a gas-operated stone fireplace. The Nicolet Lakeside Luxury suite has a whirlpool bath and the amenities of the lodge homes. Each of the Resort's lodging types includes high speed internet, satellite television, and a kitchen.

The resort's main lodge is where you will find the swimming pool, whirlpool spa, sauna, and private massage room. Even though other restaurants are nearby and the packages include certificates to the fine dining at Riverstone Restaurant, Wild Eagle Lodge operates a small dining facility called the Boondocker's Lounge. There you can order a sandwich or a pizza and join in on conversation with snowmobilers stopping in from their ride on the network of area trails. Wild Eagle Lodge is located about three miles north of Eagle River and 26 miles north of Rhinelander.

Palmquist Farm
You can experience Finnish hospitality at this lodging facility. Palmquist Farm has been operating as a farm since it was homesteaded in the late 1800's and as a vacation stay since 1949. The White Pine Inn, a lodge crafted from logs, has four suites, each with two bedrooms and private bathrooms and porches. The Inn's great room with its cathedral ceiling and wood-burning fireplace is a relaxing place after a day of outdoor activity.

You may choose to stay at the Farmhouse which has four bedrooms on its second floor and one bedroom on the first floor. This building is where winter guests enjoy breakfast and dinner, all from scratch and homemade. Lunch is served in the Pickaroon, a warming lodge.

The Sauna Cabin has two bedrooms with a private sauna and the River Cabin and Red House each have three bedrooms, perfect for two or three couples traveling together. Each of the cabins has a microwave and refrigerator for late night snacks and wood-burning fireplaces, great for romantic snuggling in front of with a loved one.

There is an additional fee for using the trails, snowshoe and ski rental, and riding in the horse drawn sleigh to see the deer farm and other sights. Guests can skate on the skating pond and slide on the sledding hill, as well as enjoy a traditional Finnish sauna, for free. A massage by a professional masseuse may be requested ahead of time. A romantic stay at the Palmquist Farm is like stepping back to a time when hospitality meant you treated guests like family. The Farm is located off Highway 8 about 36 miles west of Rhinelander.
