Romeo and Juliet Translation Act 3 Scene 2
Characters Cast:
Juliet
Nurse
Juliet: With the night, Romeo may come to me and nobody will know.
-Enter Nurse with Rope Ladder-
Juliet: And here comes my nurse, she brings news, news about Romeo, but why does she speak his name so solemnly? Nurse, what is the news? Does Romeo want me to get the rope ladder?
Nurse: Yes, yes, get the rope ladder.
-Dropping Rope Ladder-
Juliet: Why are you so worried?
Nurse: He's dead, he's been killed, he's dead.
Juliet: Can Heaven be so mean?
Nurse: Not Heaven, Romeo. Who would have ever thought, Romeo?
Juliet: Did Romeo kill himself? Say yes and I will be so mad. If he is dead, I am dead too. Say, yes or say no, but that simple word will determine my life from this point on.
Nurse: I saw the wound; it was so gory and bloody that I fainted when I saw it.
Juliet: Oh, my heart is breaking, I will go with him, I will die with Romeo.
Nurse: Tybalt, my best friend, if only I had not seen him dead.
Juliet: Are Romeo and Tybalt both dead? Oh, what a tragedy, oh.
Nurse: Romeo killed Tybalt, his punishment is banishment.
Juliet: Oh, did Romeo kill Tybalt?
Nurse: Curse the day it happened, he did.
Juliet: He is a devil disguised as an angel, he is evil, he is the deepest evil.
Nurse: All men are evil, they cheat and they lie, they are all evil.
Juliet: He was not born to be evil, how could I be angry at him?
Nurse: Will you say good things about the man that killed your cousin?
Juliet: How can I speak poorly of my husband? But why did he kill my cousin? It must be because my cousin is evil and would have killed Romeo. Tybalt, the one that wanted to kill my husband, is dead. This is good news, so why should I cry? The worst news is that Romeo is banished, not that Tybalt is dead. This punishment is worse than Tybalt dying 10 thousand times over. The news brings so much pain, it is like we are all dead. Where are my mom and dad?
Nurse: They are with Tybalt's body. Would you like to go, I will take you there.
Juliet: I will cry over Romeo's banishment when they are done crying over Tybalt. Pull up the rope ladder, it is useless now.
Nurse: Stay in your room, I will bring Romeo to you tonight. I know where he is hiding, he is with Friar Lawrence.
-Juliet hands her Nurse a ring-
Juliet: Oh, bring him to me, and give him this ring.
-They leave-
