Ron Paul Banned from Traditional Republican Websites

Is it Wise to Ignore a Revolution ?

It seems that some web sites such as www.littlegreenfootballs.com, www.redstate.com and www.GOPUSA.com have decided that due to the over whelming popularity of Republican Candidate Ron Paul they will have to take some steps to get things under control. These steps include banning his supporters, not listing his name on their online polls, or prohibiting any mention of his name at all.

Shawn Zellar at Congressional Quarterly Weekly has suggested in his article that this is due to Paul Devotees sparking an online backlash.

Well Mr. Zellar, Jody Swaney here at Associated Content feels that attributing this behavior to an online backlash against Ron Paul is no better than blaming a purse snatching victim for getting beat up after she was robbed because she had the wrong kind of currency in her purse.

I will agree that the excessive support for Ron Paul could probably be a little annoying and overwhelming. I however question the objectivity of any site that deliberately disqualifies any candidate because of too much support.

This is after all America and if you aren't interested in discussing all of the Republican Candidates, (in the case of these Republican sites) than you are doing nothing less than mis-representing you site to all of your participants.

The idea of posting an online poll is to illicit the votes of your viewers, to disqualify a candidate amounts to nothing more than stuffing a ballot box.

I will be the first to admit that the outcome of this election won't hinge on some republican web sites transforming themselves into a collection of blogs for their personal favorite candidates.

But it does frighten me that some so called journalist would attribute this unAnamerican, unfair, dishonest, misrepresentation of the American electorate to be the fault of any of the Candidates.

I would like to suggest that this election not be like all of the others. I would hope that the person who gets elected does so because his or her supporters fought like hell to get them into office.

It's so sad when it's time to vote and I look at the ballet and mumble to myself 'It's time to pick my poison.'

I will come out of the closet and admit that in my secret heart of hearts I am a Ron Paul supporter. I will also admit that I would be stunned if he actually won the Nomination, and I can't imagine him winning the White House without it.

With that admission on the table I would be just as annoyed and dismayed if Fred Thompson were disqualified from debates and polls because too many people wanted to mention the tonight show, or Mike Huckabee caused too much talk about Chuck Norris.

Ron Paul is actually saying the things that people want to hear. He isn't trying to be slick or manipulative, he is very annoying because so far his allegiance has shown to be to the American people instead of the Republican party.

He doesn't play by the traditional rules because his goal is to create a whole new game.

With this said he is a legitimate Candidate and I would hate to see the big boys in the media follow the lead of these self proclaimed Republican Web sites.

It's a scary time and a scary election and Ron Pauls ideas are so controversial that they can only be considered revolutionary to a traditional Candidate, however history shows us that the worst thing to do about a revolution is to ignore it and hope it goes away.

Look at England, had they dealt with the revolutionaries fairly and decently we might still be flying the Union Jack to this day.
