Ron Paul Isn't a Racist
Watkins, a proud race baiter with nothing of note to actually discuss this morning, scoured ancient headlines in search of racy material that could be used to further promote his agenda: misinforming black people and inciting racism towards whites. What he found in his eager hunt was a serious of angry, potentially racist comments that were thought to have been written by Dr. Ron Paul.
"Boy, it sure burns me to have a national holiday for that pro-communist philanderer Martin Luther King. I voted against this outrage time and time again as a Congressman. What an infamy that Ronald Reagan approved it! We can thank him for our annual Hate Whitey Day."
"Just after a basketball game ended on June 14, blacks poured into the streets of Chicago in celebration. How to celebrate? How else? They broke the windows of stores to loot, even breaking through protective steel shutters with crowbars to steal everything in sight."
A black libertarian and fan of Ron Paul, comments such as these might have been deal killers, had he made them. However, Ron Paul didn't make these comments, the editors over at the Lew Rockwell website did. Ron Paul isn't a racist.
"People who know me, nobody is going to believe this," he said. "That's just not my language. It's not my life." (Jan 11, CNN)
In that same interview, Ron Paul went on, "Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Ghandi, they're the heroes [of my life]."
Ironically, one could argue that Ron Paul is doing more for the black community than any politician current or past. Paul is a staunch supporter of civil liberties and libertarianism. He wholeheartedly supports judicial reform, believing it to be skewed with a disproportionately high amount of blacks being incarcerated. Ron Paul wants to repeal federal drug laws. In 2007, Paul stated:
"I would like to believe that if we had a freer society, it would take care of Blacks and whites and everybody equally because we're all individuals. To me, that is so important. But if we had equal justice under the law, I think it would be a big improvement. If we had probably a repeal of most of the federal laws on drugs and the unfairness on how Blacks are treated with these drugs laws, it would be a tremendous improvement. And also, I think that if you're going to have prosperity, it serves everybody. And if this is done by emphasizing property rights and freedom of the individuals, making sure that the powerful special interests don't control Washington, that the military industrial complex doesn't suck away all the wealth of the country, and then we would have prosperity." "I am the anti-racist because I am the only candidate -- Republican or Democrat -- who would protect the minority against these vicious drug laws," he said. (Jan 11, CNN)
Ron Paul isn't a racist. He genuinely cares for the health and freedom of all people. Every year, we lose more freedoms. Don't write Ron Paul off. He is one of the few politicians who doesn't treat us like children.

Nik, such a good report -- people need to know this. I don't know much about RP -- but at least he's not a Dem or a Rep -- which are two positives right there!
That race card is used like a bat. Not a big RP fan, but I like this article ;-)
In hindsight, I should probably stress that I'm not attacking your article, Nik. Your article is great! I'm just pointing out the flaws of Ron Paul himself.
While I won't say that Ron Paul doesn't have his good ideas, I still could never vote for him. The man's foreign policy ideas stink. Also, while I agree with him that we need to repeal our drug laws (though I would NEVER advocate drug use, those who use drugs for recreation are fools), the excuse that it "unfairly targets minorities" is nonsense. No one stuck a gun to these peoples' heads and said "use these drugs or die". Minority or not, they KNEW using these drugs were not only bad for them, but ILLEGAL at the time to boot. They have no one to blame but themselves. That goes for ALL races, not just minorities.
Good job. Names are thrown around as weapons by our enemies... or worse yet, by those who are unable to understand us.
The more I learn of him the better he looks.
