The December 5 study asked Americans of all political persuasions various questions regarding the Republican presidential candidates. 21% of all Republicans (and 12% of Democrats) knew that Ron Paul was the only Republican candidate against the Iraq War. To contrast, 90% of Republicans knew that Rudy Giuliani was previously the mayor of New York, 65% knew that John McCain was a former Vietnam POW, and 36% knew that Mike Huckabee was formerly the governor of Arkansas.
The study was broadened to consider how much the participants knew about each of the potential Republican candidates. When asked about Ron Paul, 5% of the participants stated that they knew "a lot" about him, with 17% stating that they knew "some" about him, 28% stating that they knew "not much," and 49% stating that they knew "nothing at all" about Paul.
Several of the leading Republican presidential candidates were not highly known by the study participants, with 42% not recognizing Mike Huckabee, 33% not recognizing Fred Thompson, and 28% not recognizing Mitt Romney. In comparison, only 11% did not recognize Rudy Giuliani and 17% did not recognize John McCain.
Ron Paul's media exposure continues to flourish, with recent Paul recently named the GQ "Dark Horse of the Year." GQ editors state that Ron Paul has instilled "fear" in the GOP for tapping "into his party's silent minority, one that won't abide torture, reckless spending, or endless war."
Previous Pew Research Center studies have considered the effect of the internet on politics, concluding that more Americans continue to use the internet for seeking information in making their election decisions, potentially boding well for the "internet candidate" Paul.
With his fourth quarter fundraising surge totaling over $10.7 million, Paul has the funds to continue to increase his non-internet exposure in advance of the upcoming primaries. Ron Paul 2008 advertising has been heard on national broadcasts including December 2's Sirius Satellite Radio/NFL Network's Sunday "Red Zone" program, with listeners prompted to visit the Ron Paul 2008 website for additional campaign information.
In keeping with the holiday season (and his internet popularity), Ron Paul also has a commanding lead in the Yankee Magazine Cookie Primary, with 93% of the over 9,650 votes cast.

Post a CommentAs time progresses, many of us are learning Ron Paul has a lot of correct answers for our country.
Thanks for another Ron Paul article. he is the man. I am doing all that I can to get him elected. I am a precinct leader, I tell everyone I know about the great doctor!!!
I love this man- the only honest politician. I am voting for the first time ever at 26 years old because I finally have something to believe in. We need to get the word out!
Thanks for writing about this. These are exciting times!
I'm in the 51%, of course the man terrifies me and I can only hope that we don't end up with another republican president.
That is great to hear. We're big fans of Ron Paul here.
I just bought 9iullani.com. What a clever idea.
What scares me is the electronic ballots which helped fix the last 2 elections. We need some sort of backup proof, even just a print out receipt that if a recount were needed, we could supply it.
My ancestors came over on the Mayflower to escape all the things we are seeing today in this country. :-(
Read some quotes from the founding fathers and you'll see the similarities, bankers, taxes ect.

I am printing your flyers every day Ron and hope you win for the future of the USA!!
Wake up America!!
Heh. I guess I would be part of the 49% that has never heard of him :) Great article!
What people fail to realize is that most of these people who don't know anything don't show up at the polls. How many people do you think tell the truth when asked if they are going to vote in the primaries?
That's why Paul is going to be so dangerous despite the "polling" numbers...because the dirty little secret is that the aren't accurate and never can be. What was Bill Clinton polling at before the primaries?
