Since my wife is an RN and a committed second shift employee I normally rise at 5am surf the web for news, and watch it on TV while drinking coffee until 6 or 615. I then wake my ten year old son, and start him out on his day with some food in his belly, brushed teeth and clean clothes.
This morning I'm looking through my rss feeds and a link leads me to a reading of the Declaration of Independence on YouTube.
I was amazed. This document was recited by movie stars and Hollywood Royalty. As a rule I consider Hollywood to be little more than a political public relations machine for Democrats and Liberals. I would not consider myself either of these things so I am normally of the opinion that Hollywood should focus on acting and entertaining and let the American people make up their own minds. Normally they seem uninformed and their political views can lead to career suicide.
The Dixie Chicks come to mind, because I believe that they couldn't have sacrificed their musical careers more definitively, had Natalie Maines tongue kissed Hanna Montanna on stage after a show.
I was shocked to the core when the Hollywood Elite, read the document, line for line as it was written so long ago.
If you haven't heard or read this document than I encourage you to do so. It is a thing of beauty and if you listen to it than you can understand why thousands of colonists left their farms and families and took up arms against the King.
I am not a great Patriot, and I believe that this Nation is so far from what it started out as being that it actually makes me sad. I love to be free. I love to be American. So why am I sitting on the couch at 540am with tears streaming down my face ? The answer is simple.
I'm scared. I know that sounds dramatic, and could even be interpreted as weak. But the thing is I'm not weak. The blood that has stained the oceans and ground all over the world, including right here, in the good old USA to make us what we were is the blood of my ancestors . In essence it is my blood.
When our founding Fathers wrote and signed the Declaration of Independence, they pledged their lives and fortunes to the founding of a new Nation, throwing off the tyranny of the King, and pronouncing themselves traitors, and enemies of their home country.
That must have taken more courage than I can imagine. It was a step that could not be un-taken, a move that couldn't be un-made. They had to know as they signed this document that they could very well be signing their own death warrants, and the death warrants of everyone that they cared about and held dear. Yet the idea was good enough and important enough, that they did it. They didn't only sign it but copied it and dispatched riders to spread it throughout the 13 colonies. They knew word would travel to the King. They knew they would certainly face the gallows if the great plan didn't work. But they did it anyway. Wow ! Could you do that ? Could I ? Today I ask myself these very important questions.
Taxation without representation, invasion of privacy, the ever eroding state of our borders, individual States having less power, a deficit in the billions, social security on the brink of failure, socialized medicine, American currency hemorrhaging from our economy, and our Veterans living in the streets.
How much is too much? How many times will the rights of the citizen be over looked ? How many paychecks will be taxed ? How many dollars will bleed from our economy ? How long will the Federal Government pass down the laws to the States ? The Fed determines speed limits, abortion laws, drinking age, and how many drinks are too many. They require auto insurance, they sell flood insurance, they rebuild homes when you don't have insurance, and refuse to allow states to subsidize private schools even though the Government schools are horrible by any standards. The Feds determine property rights. The Feds fight a war on drugs and allow child molesters to roam free. The States do nothing because they have no power.
I drive my son to school and hear on the radio how the Federal Government has given my state a grant to pay someone to send notes home to parents, telling them that their kids are fat. How can they grant me my own money ? Why is Washington concerned if my kids fat or not ? Why are our Tax Dollars being used to inform parents that their kids are lard a$$es? Shouldn't they know ? I grow weary listing the things that a wrong with this program and try to think of one thing that is right with it. I can't. I know there are thousands of programs like this, thousands of programs, and billions of dollars.
Things don't make since, they don't make since at all. And shouldn't they make since to me ? I am Middle Class America, I am what this whole thing is supposed to be about.
I look at Ron Pauls, presidential platform and I realize that he is the one candidate who gets it. He uses the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution, as his guide to Government.
He and I don't don't agree on everything, but we do agree on the most important things, less Government, fair taxes, and the end of all of these huge Government Bureaucracies, that amount to little more than a snake eating it's own tail. He also agrees that we don't need to tax more but to spend less. And he believes in the sanctity, and independence, of the USA.
But I know as sure as I know the sun will shine tomorrow, that the game is rigged. I can't choose Ron Paul. He won't get the nomination, and he won't win.. And I know that every vote cast for Ron Paul will be ½ a vote for Hillary.
I believe the end of our great society is coming, but it will be coming much sooner with a person elected that does not have the respect of our Military or the majority or her citizens. When the nations Military does not respect the president that is a recipe for a coupe. I could write all day about my dislike for Hillary and the Clintons, but that's not what this article is about.
This article is a wake up call !
The time is coming when men will gather in boardrooms, and smoke filled corridors. We will all agree that things are out of control and something needs to be done.
Someone will suggest that it's time for their State, region, or county to succeed from the Union. So many attempts will end in failure, imprisonment, scorn and death. Because the response of
the Government, to revolution will certainly be a scorched earth policy. What else could it be ?
That's why I wept on the morning of October 22nd, 2007.
The time will come when the blood of real Americans runs in the streets and gutters once again. In the not to distant future we will again declare his independence and liberty.
Tolerance will become popular again, and religious freedoms will be respected. Someone, somewhere, will suggest that parents should do the parenting and not the Government. Someone else will suggest that perhaps morals aren't so bad and that those who choose to practice homosexuality, murder, pedophilia, prostitution, and cross dressing might be better off keeping that kind of thing in the closet instead of in the movies and on MTV.
One day we will realize that Moslems, Jews, Baptists, and Catholics, are all good and equal in the eyes of the law and we will have more acceptance, and less proselytizing.
I for one mourn the loss of the way things were. I look forward to the way things will be one day. The thought of the death, blood, and war, that will be required to bring about such change is what grieves me most of all. We had all of these things 100 short years ago, and we had half of these things only fifty years ago. We had a few of these things last year, and next year we will have less again.
It's sad, that part of being Human is to forget, and relearn, again and again.

Post a CommentDo what you know is right. Don't base your vote on what you think other people will do. You control yourself. You can do what you know to be best. If more people would stick to that simple principle, the United States would not be in this mess.
Hey there. Keep saying the good Doctor's name! Enjoyable!
Right now, voting in the primaries, a vote for Dr. Paul is *not* a vote for Hillary. If he can run on the Republican platform, Ron Paul can beat her, because he's the only one saying anything different, the only one saying anything of value.
If it were Rudy and Hillary, you've got two people saying the same things, and honestly I don't think that there is a lesser of two evils in that situation... At least with Paul we have a chance.
I registered to vote (after 27 years of hopelessness for this country) because of Ron Paul - and the only chance I have ever seen, in my 45 years, for America to return to genuine liberty. The Revolution begins now, and every vote for the freedom Ron Paul upholds, and our forefathers sacrificed and died to establish, is urgently needed. Lest we cast our votes with our own blood, which will indeed become inevitable much sooner than we dare to imagine. Let's take our country back while we are still free enough to bravely stand together, and undivided against tyranny!
Likewise. I may not agree with everything he says, but he is true to his voting record and a man of integrity. Like the other fellow said; I am sick to death of voting against people; I am gonna vote my conscience this time around. Oh, and by the way, brother; How you vote is your own business, and neither I or anyone else should try and influence you one way or the other!
Your article is why you must vote for Dr. Paul. It is not a vote for Hillary, indeed, not voting for him will be. There are too many conservatives voting for Ron Paul for the Republicans to win. We are SICK of the neo-con wing of the party and REFUSE to vote them in again. I'm not alone in saying if I can't vote for Ron Paul then I'm not voting. So Hillary wins anyway. We are making a stand against the corruption, hopefully one day our Republican party will listen again. Until then it will be an era of Democrats. No more choosing between the lesser of two evils for me because you're still choosing EVIL. No more. I've drawn my line in the sand.
fork all these alsoles. VOTE RON PAUL! anything else is a wasted vote.

The tree of liberty must be replenished with the blood of patriots. A revolution is necessary for the preservation of liberty about every 40 years - Thomas Jefferson
I don't agree with Ron Paul on everything, but at least I know where he stands
I forgot. there is an effort to gain media attention by synchronizing donations for Ron Paul on the same day November 5 - one year before the general election on 11/4/08.
