Roofing in Connecticut

Eric Brennan

Roofing in Connecticut, roofing in California, roofing in North Dakota-no matter where you're looking to get your roofing work done, one things for certain, it can be a difficult task to find a professional who's going to get the job done right and at the best price. While it may be a hard task, you can make it easy on yourself by doing plenty of research, making a few phone calls and using this guide to roofing.

Checking Authenticity

No matter what part of the state you're in, your potential Connecticut roofing contractor needs to be licensed and insured. This protects the homeowner by insuring the work is done to Connecticut state roofing standards. It also ensures you don't get caught without the right permits. It's easy to do a background check on any potential roofing contractor. Simply call your local building department and give them the roofing contractor's license number. They will give you a heads up as to what permits you need and if they are qualified to work on your Connecticut roofing project.

Work Experience

Once you know they have the right licensing and insurance to do the roofing work, finding out if they are good at what they do is up to you. Finding a Connecticut roofing contractor with a long list of happy past customers is in your best interests. Always get at least three references from your roofing contractor that you can contact or visit. Whether you make a phone call, send an email or visit the roofing job yourself, be sure to follow up on any references you get. This can let you know whether or not your potential Connecticut roofing contractors work is up to your standards.

Collecting Bids

With the way today's economy is, it's important to get the most out of your money. That's why getting multiple bids is an important part of finding a good and cheap roofing contractor in Connecticut. Getting multiple bids can also help you to better compare bids, ensuring that your potential roofing contractors are all on the same page. If one roofing contractors bid is very high while another is very low, a cost breakdown list of labor and materials can help you to compare apples to apples, ensuring you get the best bang for your buck.

Special Services

During the estimate, it's a good idea to ask about replacement materials warrantees, guarantees and any other special services that are included in the final price. Some Connecticut roofing companies provide warrantees or guarantees on the materials and/or labor they use. Other roofing contractors may only provide services or labor. Always make sure to get any warranty or guaranty in writing before you sign any contracts or agreements.

I'm in Tennessee, but we seem to have a problem just getting a roofer to return to our house a second time. I think there have been four or five potential roofers who have "fallen through" so to speak.
