Rooibos, Today's Miracle Tea

Red Tea Made from the Rooibos Plant and Its Medicinal Purposes

N. Soltys
People all over are going crazy over red tea. This delicious red beverage is made from the rooibos plant. This plant literally translates to "the red bush", and is found most often in the southernmost parts of Africa, more notably around the south capes and found in semi coastal atmospheres as well as surrounded by other brush in the African plains. The plant has many wonderful properties that stay with it even when dried and used in tea, such as powerful anti-oxidants, polyphenols, flavonoids, and proanthocyanidins that help protect your body against any harmful agents, making it one of the most valued tea plants in the world.

Rooibos tea is used daily by people to whom the plant is local, because it's long been known to help defend your body against free radicals that attack your healthy cells. Of course, it's difficult without any scientific experimentation or instruments which chemicals in the plant are helping defend against what, but the noticeable positive properties of the tea have been documented for centuries in the local tribe-like world many local people still live in. They drink red tea to cleanse their bodies if they feel weak or sick, and even drink it daily purely because it tastes great.

Red tea can also be used for its anti-inflammatory properties, and with that comes some anti allergenic properties as well. Many people in Africa, and more recently all over the world, drink tea made from the rooibos plant if they have a common allergy to things like air born agents, minor insect bites, and even lactose intolerance. Because of these two properties, red tea from rooibos has been used mostly throughout Asia as a cure and remedy for outbreaks of STDs that blister or puff up your skin, such as herpes simplex, and even be used to help soothe achy or swollen genitals caused by friction trauma or a disease.

The rooibos plant also holds amazing properties that heal and protect your hair and skin, because of its rich vitamin and mineral content. Rooibos is full of magnesium, calcium and potassium, as well as other important compounds that make your body healthy and make your skin and hair radiant. Because people that drink red tea have boasted good skin and hair, studies were conducted to see if rooibos indeed had any anti aging properties. According to some of these studies, rooibos has certain antioxidants and other agents that have proven in other foods and plants to be very effective against the signs of aging. Rooibos contains aspalathin, which plays a big role in preventing against heart diseases and other heart problems that can occur from simply getting older. Also, rooibos has many anti-inflammatory agents such as quercetin, which prevents against the skin puffing out and sagging or wrinkling as you age. Many of the other antioxidants in rooibos tea have been praised by scientists the world over, but most especially in Japan, where scientists have proven that a SOD compound (super oxidant dismutase) in rooibos is one of the most effective and safest antioxidants in the world today.

Overall, red tea made from the rooibos plant is tasty, nutritious, and helps your body fight harmful agents that occur in our bodies day to day. Today, mainstream companies are using the rooibos plant to make red teas that everyone can drink no matter where they are, making our shopping experience at the local corner store a bit healthier each day.
