Dulcimer Days serve as the village's first festival of the season. Held at the Coshocton Lake Park Pavilion, this oldest dulcimer fest in the state and second oldest in the world, brings seventy pickers to the Mid-Eastern Regional Hammered and Mountain Dulcimer Championships. Contests include dulcimer, guitar, vocal, and duet categories, and on Saturday night, two top dulcimer musicians will take to the stage. The event takes place May 18th through 20th.
If it's cars that you love, how about three hundred classic Corvettes to feast your eyes upon? June 10th, Roscoe Village gets a little more modern, while a DJ spins the hits from the 50s and 60s and the Corvettes take over the village in the Corvette Cruise-In.
On the 16th,17th, and 18th of June, it's back to the past, when the streets spill over with the music and crafts of the Heritage Craft & Olde Time Music Fest. Commencing with a concert at the Triple Locks Theater on the evening of the 16th, the festivities continue throughout the weekend. Crafts line the streets, and for the cost of materials, you can learn to make your own, including pottery-making and basket-weaving. Demonstrations of candle and soap making, weaving, and whittling take place all around the village. There are dulcimer, banjo, and dancing workshops, a flat-pick guitar contest, and if you prefer to just watch and listen, there is plenty of free bluegrass and live entertainment.
When you are standing in a place right out of the 1800s, it is easy to feel as if the Civil War could be taking place right around you. On July 21st and 22nd, the Civil War Reenactment brings that period in history right into Roscoe Village. Abe Lincoln speaks on the main stage, campsites litter the area, and when the fighting begins, the fighting and cannon-fire will make you grateful you weren't around for the bloody period in American history.
Where it all began is celebrated in Roscoe during the Coshocton Canal Festival, August 18th and 19th. A Grand Parade down Main Street in Coshocton, and in Roscoe Village, there are arts and crafts flowing down the streets, free entertainment, including the Fiddler's Contest, and costumed people right out of the town's notable past.
On a dull day, Roscoe Village is a special place, but when the festivities are in full swing, it becomes downright extraordinary.
