Rose

Steven Jacob Borthick
For the first time this spring she shall awake
Growing with movement like a snake
A limb on each side she will embrace
For they provide life to her wonderful case
At her bottom her roots sing
Reaching out desperately for anything
To draw in water for beauty and health
Hiding underground with great stealth
Above rests the body of greatest quality
Sharpness of spikes is her specialty
At the top is a redhead treasured as a gem
You won't find beauty like this so slim
A symbol of love and everyone knows
She's a rose.
