This year's Tournament of Roses Parade theme is "Building Dreams, Friendships & Memories", perfect for the Dream Home's first float appearance. 2011 marks the 122nd Rose Parade and the tenth HGTV Dream Home. The Rose Parade kicks off at 9 a.m. ET.
2011 HGTV Dream Home
The 2011 Dream Home is a modern rustic mountain lodge located in Stowe, Vermont. The 3,400 square foot prize features two bedrooms, a dorm, gourmet kitchen and two family rooms. The home features a bevy of large windows, which frame the breathtaking scenery.
A virtual tour can be taken here. The custom-designed HGTV Dream Home 2011 televised reveal will take place at 11 a.m. ET, after the Rose Parade.
Dream Home Rose Parade Float
The HGTV's Dream Home float is reported to be an exact exterior replica of the lodge. Artistic license has been taken with the float's scenery, adding a little color with fall tress and lavender lawn. Foreground scenery excitement also includes a red barn and a kayak stream.
Per Rose Parade rules, every surface of the float must be covered with a natural material, such as flowers, seeds, spices or bark. Cocoa powder and a cereal grain were used to color the siding, while white and lavender chrysanthemums mimic rooftop snow.
Other flowers used to decorate the Dream Home Float for the Rose Parade include; roses, daisies, iris and carnations. Natural materials include white rice, poppy seed and lettuce seed.
Enter to Win HGTV Dream Home
Not only is the 2011 HGTV Dream Home sponsoring its first Rose Parade Float and televised unveiling Saturday, but Jan. 1 is also the first day to enter the sweepstakes. Contest hopefuls can enter to win daily online, until 5 p.m. ET, on Feb. 18, 2011.
The winner of the HGTV Dream Home will receive a 2011 GMC Acadia Denali and $500k, in addition to the luxurious lodge.

Post a CommentGreat reporting and we watched this on tv and the Dream Home afterwards.
I always watch the parade on HGTV. This year the announcers were terrible. I like them in their shows but they sounded like they were reading from cue cards for the FIRST time. Bring back the previous crew - they were great-especially Paul James. He always had interesting, pertinent info to say.
Great work! Happy New Year =0)
Wish I could win the home..the cash woudl help too! Thanks Ted - http://MeanGreenIceCreamMachine.com
I am enjoying the HGTV commentators MUCH more than network coverages in the past. Good job, guys.
Tell the announcers to shut up when the bands are preforming & there are sound effects on the floats!
Once again; the announcers like the sound of their own voices too much!!!!
