Roseanne Barr, 'Double Rainbow Guy' for President in 2012?

COMMENTARY | I think most of us are tired of the way things have been going in the White House. Frankly, it's been exhausting, and things are not getting any better. With the Tea Party holding our politicians back from anything that could be considered good progress, almost nothing gets accomplished.

Maybe it's time for someone completely out of the political realm to take control. A person who hasn't been corrupted through the evils of politics is bound to make a better president, wouldn't you think?

Comedian/actress Roseanne Barr told Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show" that Sarah Palin inspired her to run for president.

Barr said she won't run as a Democrat or Republican because they "both suck." Instead, she's creating the new Green Tea Party. She says she'd like to represent the American taxpayers who have been "dissed to the max," CNN reports.

The Green Tea Party could be a lot better than the current Tea Party. Green Tea probably won't discriminate against black tea, being of color already, and I would imagine green tea is a lot more concerned about the environment.

Barr commented on to Palin to Leno: "You know, it's because of her that I decided to do a reality show. I have feral pigs that overrun my farm, and I'd like to shoot them out of a helicopter. But, um, that's kinda what got me thinking that I too should run for president, if she can....I feel like she's stealing my act, anyway."

I like Barr's ideas, but an even better candidate might be Paul Vasquez, better known as the Double Rainbow Guy. Paul was an acquaintance of mine before his famous video became a viral sensation, and he's an amazing guy. Vasquez is honest and caring, two qualities that are missing from most of our current politicians.

He has kicked off a presidential campaign via Facebook's "Votocracy." Votocracy is a place where anyone can run for president; Vasquez, whose video has been viewed over 29 million times, can at least get his message out. The Double Rainbow Guy can bring passion to the White House, and experience in both alternative energy and organic farming.

Vasquez says, "I have already lived the life I wanted to live, I am done, now it is about how I can help my fellow man. I have an unlimited ability to love. I am smart enough to surround myself with people who are smarter and harder working than me."

If elected, Vasquez says that he would "declare a state of emergency" like Eisenhower did with the highway system. He would ween Americans off of foreign oil and put them to work building an infrastructure based on alternative energy. As a Native American, Vasquez comes from a culture that is connected to the land instead of fighting against it.

Though realistically we know Vasquez and those outside of politics have almost no chance of becoming elected, perhaps some of our elected officials will begin to listen to these commonsense ideas.
