Rosewill RNX-G1W USB Wireless Adapter Review

After checking the consumer reviews, we purchased two of the Rosewill RNX-G1W USB Wireless Adapters for our kid's computers. We live in a 5th wheel in a campground, and our access point is several yards away, and one of the reasons why we selected this USB wireless adapter is because it has an external antenna, instead of the built in antenna like many USB devices have. This was important because if the standard 2dBi antenna was not sufficient, we could purchase a high gain antenna and easily replace the stock antenna.

We also, ALWAYS check the feedbacks on merchandise we buy, and this particular USB wireless adapter had nearly 200 reviews with a 5 egg rating at Newegg. Despite the fact that the stock antennas are typically only 2dBi, both of these adapters picked up the signal beautifully with 5 bars to our access point. Considering our laptops were only pulling a 2 to 3 bar reception, I was quite amazed at how well these USB adapters worked. They have been using them for more than 4 months now, and they are consistent, reliable, and fast, and always have great reception.

Not only are these quite sufficient, the installation was a breeze, and within a couple minutes I had both computers up and running. Another great bonus to purchasing a USB wireless Internet adapter is that you don't have to open the case, (though I always do anyway), but being a USB adapter makes them good for desktops as well as laptops so in a given situation where you might need to, "Borrow" the adapter from your desktop and, "Loan" it to a laptop, the transition and moving is very easy.

The Rosewill RNX-G1W USB Wireless Adapter uses a female SMA antenna, so almost any wireless antenna or cable with the female SMA connector Will work.
