Coloring Pages to Teach Kids About the Importance of Rosh Hashanah

Jenn C.
Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year that begins September 18, 2009 at night fall and ends September 20, 2009 at nightfall. It is a time of reflection and repentance. It is also known as the day of judgment, the day of remembrance, and the feast of trumpets. A shofar is a trumpet made from a ram's horn that is sounded 100 notes a day to remind the soul to enter repentance in hopes of being recorded in the Book of Life. It is a time of forgiveness, doing good deeds, and fixing wrongs. Rosh Hashanah traditions include eating sweets such as dipping apples in honey in hopes for a sweet year. They also throw bread crumbs in the river to cast away their sins. The shofar blowing is to begin the 10 day period known as the Holy Days that ends at Yom Kippur.

Here you will find free Rosh Hashanah coloring pages for children to teach them the important messages and traditions of this important Jewish holiday.
