Rousing Inspirational Poems of a Stirring Nature: When I was a Child, I Spoke as a Child
A Time to Put Away Childish Things
When I was a child
I spoke as a child
I understood as a child
I thought as a child;
But when I became a man
I put away childish things.
Then when the children asked
Where are all my things?
I told them
Your parents sent them
Ahead to the orphanage
You must have been really bad
When they cry
I don't tell them it's a joke.
Because,
You know,
Then the joke would be over
And I'd have to stop laughing.
I Cor. xiii. 11.

Post a CommentReading the hold thing you did. I find the ending very disrespectful.
Sounds like you used the one of the Epistles of St. Paul in the beggining of the poem.
enjoyed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very clever!
Hoo - the punch line! Clever twist on a familiar passage. What parent hasn't wanted a little extra leverage on occasion? ;-)
I remember the good old days when I was a kid.
