Route 66: Review of An Unusual Gift Store, North Oklahoma City

Route 66 is inside 50 Penn Place Mall. This is the only mall I visit. I like the size of it and the security. It is an upscale mall so I usually have to look at sale racks, but that's okay. Route 66 is on the East end of the mall on the second floor. An escalator takes you right to the front door.

You are always greeted, usually by the owner, Jeanette Koenig as you step in the store. I don't know how she does it but she doesn't seem to miss a day or even take off time for meals. She treats every customer the same and visits with everyone. It's a great place to take an elderly relative. They ride the escalator to the front door, chat with Jeanette, shop for gifts and feel they have really had an outing.

Jeanette sells homemade gifts such as soap at a huge soap bar. Free samples wrapped in white paper and colorful ribbon are given to every customer. They are beautiful plus smell wonderful. They look like works of art.

I fell in love with place mats that were hilarious and copies of hand-painted artwork. Even one place mat makes a neat gift for an eclectic person. There are bowls made out of old vinyl records, re-cycled license plate purses and the clothing is something you would see on MK Olsen.........very unique.

Jeanette really has an eye for fun gifts, artwork and unusual gifts. I was in the store with an artist and Jeanette zeroed in on her. Jeanette found out my friend makes homemade belts so she asked for a sample. The owner is also an avid natural health devotee so there are items such as some of the best lavender products you ever saw and smelled.

Even if your pocketbook only allows you to purchase cards, they will be remembered. Service is always good and you will be drawn into a conversation so get ready to chat while looking at unique items and fun gifts at a store I rate 10 out of 10 points.

TY Mz. Bayless That's another thing that's great about this store. It supports local artists.

Lady Samantha, The store is called Route 66 because there is a big trend to travel this highway and it runs through Okla. City. People even come from other countries to travel it.

Our family loves to shop there. Jeanette has a great selection of gifts(jewelry, upscale candles, art, incense, lots to choose from!!!) and clothing, nice cards too. I find it very friendly and NOT pushy or snobby.

How did you find the time to write all these reviews? Anyway, this place sounds cool- a cross between Soap Opera and Anthropology here in Madison
