Roy Barnes Tells North Georgia Voters He Will Be Railroading Again

Roy Barnes wants to build his dream (and Obamas): a "rapid rail, high speed rail, commuter rail," he told a North Georgia crowd of 100, who gathered at the Dalton Freight Depot to hear him on Monday.

Earlier in the 2010 Georgia Governor Election campaign, Roy Barnes was trying to distance himself from Obama projects, such as Health Care Reform, according to the Associated Press, who quoted Roy as saying HCR could be "financially devastating to Georgia."

So which is it? Roy Barnes is for or he's against the current "business as usual" in Washington by President Obama and the Democratic-controlled Congress. Roy changes political tracks more than any train riding the rails.

Roy's Railroad Lines: Making tracks in Georgia again?

American Georgia voters like myself are a disgruntled lot with the same ole, same ole, that just continues to run the Senate and House of late. Barnes, sensing this, started his campaign as far from Obama as he could get. Now, nearing the finish line, he seems to be feeling confident enough to unveil his real agendas.

We were told one thing when President Obama was running for office at first, too: there'll be financial accountability, more transparency, et cetera, et cetera. But we got just the opposite: trillions in debt, behind-closed-door negotiations on Health Care Reform, et cetera.

2010 Georgia Gubernatorial Candidate: Railroading again?

Roy Barnes has done the same thing to voters during the 2010 Georgia Gubernatorial Election. He first said he "has learned to slow down and listen [to his constituents]," per the AJC. And that he realizes he tried to do too much when governor of Georgia before, without constituent support, so if we give him another chance he won't do it again.

But then Barnes goes on in another breath to say, "I am not going to be a laissez-faire governor," the AJC reported. That means he isn't going to sit still if he wants to do something, whether voters like it again or not.

Roy is trying to railroad us down his roads again through doublespeak. Like Obama, he says what he thinks we want to hear.

Roy Barnes railroaded out of governor's seat once before

Roy Barnes spent years serving in the Senate and the House and four years as Georgia's governor. Under "King Roy"--as he is still dubbed in the southern state to this very day--it was so bad that we figuratively ran him out of town on a railroad, politically. Georgians booed every appearance made.

Democrats in Congress have railroaded their agendas on Georgia voters and others in the nation the past two years, too (Health Care Reform, Stimulus Bill, Don't Ask Don't Tell), but they've neglected other areas--or only supported them "their way" like "King Roy" did from 1999 to 2003--or supported them in their own sweet time (Unemployment Extension Benefits, remember the summer delays?).

Roy, Congress railroading me and you

I'm one of those voters that's been railroaded by Roy Barnes in Georgia and Congress and Pres. Obama. And I say that Roy Barnes' future plans for Georgia are just mirroring what has been going on in Congress the past two years under the Obama Administration.

Roy Barnes railroaded teacher termination, flag desecration, and more before. He did it "his way" instead of voters' way. We fired him.

Congress has been railroading their agendas too. We need to fire them in November.

Let's don't give "business as usual" our vote in Georgia this year. Let's tell Roy Barnes, Congress and President Obama that we don't want their type of "railroad." Let's get some new engineers, shall we?
