Now retired, Everett Wilkensen (Bishoff's Taxidermy & Animal FX), preserved the animals in 1965. Current owner, Gary Robbins, estimates the cost at that time to be in the area of $10,000 - $12,000 to mount Trigger.

November plans for airing old Roy Rogers' and Dale Evans' movies!

RFD-TV Network RFD-TV is planning to air their old movies on Saturdays beginning in November. Each episode would be introduced by Dusty, who would also be sharing childhood stories of growing up with his famous parents, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. The High Riders, a western group of Dusty and his son Dustin would also provide music.

According to their autobiography "Happy Trails" published in the 1990's, Dale Evans was opposed to having Trigger "mounted" and threatened (facetiously) to have Roy "mounted" and placed on Trigger's back after his death. In an unrelated comment, I think that Roy must have been turning over in his grave when Roy Jr. put Trigger on the auction block for the highest bidder. Talk about disrespecting the memory of the King of the Cowboys and his faithful horse!

It's good to hear that we will be able to watch some of their old movies this fall. So much $$$ for stuffed animals! :)

There was a rumor years ago that Dale had been preserved via taxidermy as well... If true, perhaps she will go on the block too. Imagine wanting her standing, unmoving, in your living room .... weird!!

I'd have buried my beloved pets -- but each to their own, I suppose.

Well it looks we will be able to see Roy & Dale old movies once again. I hope this time they will be uncut. The reason I saying this that the last time this was done all most all the the films that were shown were just terrible.
