Royal Bliss' new album, "Waiting Out The Storm," just dropped on January 24th. This is the band's second release behind the 2009 debut, "Life In-Between," which charted on the Billboard Top 200. The debut effort harvested two hits in "Save Me" and "We Did Nothing Wrong."
In "Waiting Out The Storm," Royal Bliss returns with a batch of catchy rock songs that will easily find a home on mainstream stations across the country. There are many potential hits on this album and each track brings a nice blend of gritty rock with contagious melodies.
I really love this album; the songs are catchy, especially the lead single, "Crazy." There are actually two versions on the album, with one being a rock edition. "Crazy" will hit stations on Valentine's Day, which threw me off because I swear I've heard it on the radio already. That's the main problem I see with Royal Bliss. As good as the band is they sound like a lot of bands that are popular today.
Bands such as Nickelback, Seether, Hinder and Finger Eleven all have similar sounds and success, save for Nickelback who is the Dane Cook of rock n' roll. This sound has proven to yield great results, and it may do the same for Royal Bliss. However, it may also have fans confusing tracks from "Waiting Out The Storm" with other songs. Sometimes it's hard to be unique when there are bands with similar sounds.
All that aside, the album is very good. In fact I love it. It's been in my car for the last three weeks. I hope Royal Bliss finds the success they deserve; they just need to separate themselves from the Nickelback scene. This content was based upon a free review copy the Contributor received.
