Royal Challengers Bangalore Thrashes Mumbai Indians by 7 Wickets in Today's DLF IPL Match Played at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai
Jacques Kallis (66 not out) continued his astonishing form as a captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore to a comprehensive 7-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians in their Indian Premier League encounter at Brabourne stadium, Mumbai on Saturday.
Jacques Kallis hit ten fours in his 55-ball inning. Kallis is yet to be dismissed in four innings played so far in the third edition of Indian Premier League.
Mumbai ended Virat Kohli's 12-ball 17 cameo, including two sixes, through a brilliant throw by Pollard in the 17th over.
Zaheer Khan provided a crucial breakthrough when he dismissed Robin Uthappa (23 off 15 balls) in the 15th over but it was too little too late as Bangalore then needed just 36 runs off 33 balls with eight wickets in hand.
Royal Challengers started their run chase aggressively as Jacques Kallis and Manish Pandey (40 off 27 balls) put up another brilliant opening partnership of 85 runs against Mumbai.
Manish Pandey continued his good form in the league and slammed three fours and two sixes in his 27-ball inning.
Earlier, Bangalore restricted Mumbai to 151 for nine with some very good display of swing bowling.
Mumbai could not recover from the triple blow by Vinay Kumar (3-25) in the 11th over as wickets keep on tumbling.
Some late hitting by Zaheer Khan (23* off 9 balls) helped Mumbai piled up a modest 152-run target to defend.
For Royal Challengers, Dale Steyn contributed with three crucial wickets including an early scalp of Sanath Jayasuriya (2) and dangerous Kieron Pollard (21).
Mumbai lost Dwayne Bravo (1), Sachin Tendulkar (25) and Ambati Rayudu (3) to young Vinay Kumar after Bangalore skipper Anil Kumble scalped Saurabh Tiwary (25 off 21 balls) and halted Mumbai's progress in the tenth over.
Mumbai lost opener Sanath Jayasuriya (2) early, when he was trapped leg-before by Dale Steyn in the second over of the match.
Earlier, Mumbai skipper Sachin Tendulkar won the toss and decided to bat against Royal Challengers at Brabourne stadium.
