Royal Oak crime blotter

Mark Vansetti
Royal Oak has experienced an uncharacteristic run on serious crimes. Most have heard about the fatal shooting that occurred on the 2700 block of Ardmore near the Red Run golf course. Police have not announced many leads, but they are looking for a black SUV or crossover that was apparently spotted in the area at the time of the shooting. Also, police are unsure if it was a random act of violence or if the victim was targeted.

A few days later, a woman awoke in her home on the 1800 block of Bonnie View to find a man leaning over her. The intruder told her he was going to kill her and warned her not to move. Fortunately, he ran from the house, stole the woman's SUV and was apprehended by police in Southfield shortly thereafter.

Then, a few days after the break-in, two people were mugged at gun point outside of the Red Coat Tavern on Woodward. Red Coat is known to be a very busy restaurant/bar, and the area is generally considered to be safe. Police have not arrested anyone in connection with the mugging.
