Royal Oak police blotter

Royal Oak Police recently rescued an 80-year-old man who was stuck in his bed. A friend of the man's, who was calling from Alabama, became concerned when the Royal Oak resident did not answer his phone for two days, and called police. When police arrived, they found the house locked up and heard no response after knocking. Police went inside and found the man stuck between the headboard of his bed and the mattress. He was delusional and dehydrated, and was treated at William Beaumont Hospital.

Police received a 911 call from an intoxicated male who was at the Exchange Club Park, which is located on Montrose Avenue just north of Thirteen Mile Road, at 2:10 a.m. on July 5. When police arrived, the male was staggering around his bicycle, near some empty beer cans, and asked for a ride home. The police, whom he had called, arrested him for disorderly conduct and violation of park curfew hours.

A 16-gauge shotgun was stolen from an apartment on the 2500 block of Normandy along with a briefcase containing money and personal documents. Another break-in occurred at the Heart and Vein Center, located on Woodward just south of Thirteen Mile Road, where a digital camera was stolen.

A resident on the 800 block of Symes reported that someone stole a central air conditioning unit from his backyard. Nearby, on the 1800 block of Shire Court, a BMX bicycle was stolen from a backyard.

Ernie's Pizza on West Fourth Street was the target of a black male, about 20 years old, who stole two sets of car keys and money from a tip jar.
