Royal Rumble 2011

I have been a wrestling fan for years and I like wrestling tradition, old school wrestling. Wrestling changes all the time but some things do stay the same, like Wrestlemania and the Royal Rumble. This year they are changing up the Royal Rumble.

The Royal Rumble has been a once a year event for years. The main event for the show is a 30 man battle royal for a chance to main event at Wrestlemania. The list of great superstars that have been in this match could go on for miles.

Then at Wrestlemania the Royal Rumble winner was always in the main event against the current title holder, but that doesn't always hold anymore. In 2008 John Cena won the Royal Rumble and he got his title match at No Way Out, and then there was two elimination chamber matches to decide two number one contenders for that year's Wrestlemania.

This year the Royal Rumble will no longer be a 30 men match. They will add 10 more and make it a totally of 40 men in the match. What will this mean to the 24 men who have won it in the past? I know that there are a lot more superstars these days, but shouldn't tradition mean something? The past several years you don't see a bunch of men in the ring at once, because they are trying to put too much entertainment in the match. They put the Super Fly Jimmy Snuka in the match one year and he could barely move and threw in Rowdy Roddy Piper, all for the entertainment value they could possibly get out of it.

The good parts that I seen is that the match will be longer. There will be 10 more superstars that the crowd will see. The crowd will actually see a good match, because they will have to sit through the boring match between Edge and Dolph Ziggler. How is Dolph Ziggler number one contender material?

I just hope that this year's Royal Rumble is a good one. Maybe another superstar will make a comeback and win. Just like Edge last year or Cena back in 2008.
