Royal Rumble
Royal Rumble Will Be Live on Pay-Per-View (PPV) Sunday, January 30th, 2011 at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT
I'm selecting Randy Orton as the winner of this match. However, The Miz will still be leaving the Royal Rumble as WWE Champion. The Miz will probably get disqualified allowing Orton to pick up the victory without losing his Championship. The Miz still has Alex Riley at his side which gives him the advantage over Orton. Riley can easily interfere in the match costing Orton the Championship.
WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Edge (Champion) vs. Dolph Ziggler
I think Edge will win this match. Edge just won the Championship last month at Tables, Ladders, and Chairs. This is also Ziggler's first shot at the Championship, making him a long shot. Ziggler does have a chance to upset Edge. Ziggler has Vickie Guerrero at his side. Guerrero is standing in as General Manager (GM) since Teddy Long was mysteriously attacked on Smackdown. We will probably find out later that it was Ziggler and not The Corre who attacked Teddy Long. Now that Long is out of the picture, Guerrero could make this match a no disqualification match. Doing so would allow The Corre to interfere in the match. Why would The Corre want to interfere and help Ziggler become Champion? Since Guerrero is acting as GM she can promise each and every member of The Corre a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship if they help Ziggler become Champion. This is probably an unlikely scenario but you never know what kind of surprises the WWE has up their sleeves.
DIVAS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH - 2-ON-1 HANDICAP MATCH: Natalya (Champion) vs. Lay-Cool (Layla & Michelle McCool)
Lay-Cool should win this match because it's not realistic for one person to beat two people. That was my same reasoning when this match took place at Survivor Series. This time around I'm giving the win to Natalya. Natalya could pick up the victory with some help from Beth Phoenix. It's also possible that Lay-Cool could cost each other the match.
40 MAN ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH:
The following is a list of confirmed participants (this list as no relation to what number the superstars will enter the Rumble at).
1. Alberto Del Rio
2. Big Show
3. Chris Masters
4. CM Punk
5. Daniel Bryan
6. Darren Young
7. David Hart Smith
8. David Otunga
9. Drew McIntyre
10. Ezekiel Jackson
11. Heath Slater
12. Husky Harris
13. Jack Swagger
14. John Cena
15. John Morrison
16. JTG
17. Justin Gabriel
18. Kane
19. Kofi Kingston
20. Mark Henry
21. Mason Ryan
22. Michael McGillicutty
23. Primo
24. R-Truth
25. Rey Mysterio
26. Santino Marella
27. Sheamus
28. Ted DiBiase
29. Tyson Kidd
30. Vladimir Kozlov
31. Wade Barrett
32. William Regal
33. Yoshi Tatsu
34. Zack Ryder
35. Vacant
36. Vacant
37. Vacant
38. Vacant
39. Vacant
40. Vacant
The Vacant spots will probably be filled by a combination of returning Superstars and a few Legends. Some of those Superstars could be The Undertaker, Triple H, Christian, or Evan Bourne. One of the Legends could be Stone Cold Steve Austin since he will be hosting Tough Enough.
With 40 Superstars competing it's hard to determine who is going to win. Rather than just pick one winner here are a few possible winners.
The Miz: If The Miz loses his WWE Championship to Randy Orton earlier in the night he could fill one of those Vacant spots. The Miz is always saying "I'm better than you". By outlasting 39 other superstars he will be able to prove that. This is probably an unlikely scenario but nothing is impossible.
Triple H: A lot of people think that Triple H is going to win the Royal Rumble. I have no doubt that Triple H will return because he has a new movie coming out in February. I don't think he will win the Royal Rumble though. Sheamus was the reason Triple H has been out of action for so long. When Triple H returns he is not going to let Sheamus forget that.
CM Punk: With the New Nexus at his side Punk has a great shot at winning. His members are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure their leader wins the Royal Rumble.
John Cena: Cena is one of the favorites to win the Rumble. He is been out of the Championship picture for quite some time. Winning the Rumble is the perfect opportunity for WWE to launch Cena back into the Championship picture.
Christian: Christian is probably a long shot to win the Royal Rumble. Who knows if he is even healthy enough to compete. Even if Christian enters the Royal Rumble I don't see him winning. It's hard to picture him headlining Wrestle Mania.
The Undertaker: Undertaker's Wrestle Mania streak is creeping near 20 wins. If Undertaker did win the Rumble the WWE Universe would not have much to look forward to because of his streak. It is possible that Undertaker would lose at Wrestle Mania but it's highly unlikely.
Wade Barrett: Barrett is another possibility. Barrett said "he only wants to challenge the top guys in the company". If Barrett wins it would not matter who is Champion. Lately, Barrett seems more focused on The Corre. That could hurt his chances of winning.
John Morrison: Morrison is probably a long shot but if he were to win the Rumble he could rekindle his feud with The Miz.
Alberto Del Rio: It is Del Rio's destiny to win the Royal Rumble. Will destiny be enough to help him win? I could see Ricardo Rodriguez helping Del Rio keep both his feet off the floor.
Drew McIntyre: McIntyre is tied up in a storyline with Kelly Kelly making him a long shot to win. However, McIntyre's New Years Resolution was to become World Champion. This could be one of the few opportunities McIntyre gets to becoming a Number One Contender so he needs to make the most of it.

Post a CommentYou are very proficient in your knowledge about wrestling. I enjoy your articles, old and new. Thanks:)
I partly agree with Wrestling Fanatic. Given that Triple H is on the cover of the current WWE Magazine, his return might be at Royal Rumble, just as Edge did in 2010, and beat everyone because he is so fresh.
Should prove to be an interesting event.
I see Miz winning, Edge winning, and I have a few predictions for the Rumble. My Rumble predictions are Punk, Barrett, Cena, a possible returning Triple H, and possibly Sheamus or Morrison.
good report, I was an old school wrestling fan, don't know the newer names
I think the match that is easiest to predict right now is Edge versus Ziggler. Edge will retain since Ziggler is not yet ready for the world title. I think the WWE Championship match could go either way. Triple H should not be overlooked to win the Rumble, he is set to return at any time.
