Royal Super Buffet, Port Richey, Florida, Has Quality Food, and a Large Variety

Susan Slade
Royal Super Buffet is probably the best Chinese restaurant that we have in the West Pasco area. Whenever friends suggest a buffet, this is the name that comes up most often. Barnhill's buffet has got more expensive, and our Golden Corral went out. It is located on U.S.19, in Port Richey.

We were meeting friends before they headed back north, and Royal Super Buffet, was the choice. We decided on 3.00 p.m., as it was Easter Saturday, and the restaurants are always crowded around the holidays.

Len and I arrived early, and went in as the temperature was in the high 80's. We told them that we were waiting for another couple, but they seated us anyway. Len had a diet coke, and I had iced water with lemon.

Our friends came spot on time, and I beckoned them to join us. Our server brought them water, and we chatted for awhile.

The dining area is in the front of the restaurant. There are booths and tables. We were happy with a table, as this way we wouldn't keep moving our partners, when we needed to get up for more food.

I always know what I am having. I started with the 'you peel them shrimp', mussels in the shell, and crab meat. There were small dishes, so I put some cocktail sauce in one, and returned to the table. Len had the same as me. Our friends went for a selection of different kinds of Chinese food.

It was so good that we all cleared our first plates. Second time up I had coconut shrimp, shrimp pasta, seafood medley, button mushrooms, and I picked out pea pods, and baby corn. I also took one chicken ball, with the sweet and sour sauce.

Len had the chicken balls without the sauce, chow mien, and another type of noodles. Our friends came back with a selection of food on their plates. Our server had been back and brought Len another diet coke.

Again we all cleared our plates, so it was time for dessert. I had grapes, watermelon, honeydew melon, slices of kiwi fruit, pineapple, and 1 miniature cream puff. Len had sugar free vanilla ice cream. Our friends had fruit and ice cream. As I hadn't taken ice cream with my fruit, I went back for a small scoop of butter pecan.

We were all full.

There were plenty of servers, that dressed smartly. The restaurant, and food areas were clean. Both the hot and cold food were at the correct temperatures. The bathrooms were clean too.

The only fault I could find was that all the plates were warm, or hot. This is not good for salad items, the shellfish, and the cold desserts.

We weren't hurried at all.

When our checks arrived the cost of the buffet was $6.75 per person, and Len's soda was $1.39. We paid this at the cash register upon leaving the restaurant. I did ask if they had any take-out menus, or leaflets on the restaurant, but the lady shook her head.

Good review, sounds reasonable. At least if the plates were warm or hot - you knew they had been washed! LOL cheers :)
