Prince William and Kate Middleton became engaged last month, but already the public is eager for details about the upcoming royal wedding. What do we know so far?

William and Kate Engagement

Kate chose an appropriately colored royal blue silk dress by Issa for her engagement. The dress sold out within 24 hours at Net-a-Porter.com. Most of us would have some dieting and working out to do if we wanted to fit into the size 2 dress Kate wore.

William and Kate Engagement Photos

Peruvian celebrity photographer Mario Testino took the official engagement photos of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Testino is well-known for his 1997 iconic black-and-white photos of Princess Diana, published in Vanity Fair just a month before her death.

Testino pronounced the young couple "brimming with happiness," and said, "I have never felt so much joy as when I see them together."

Royal Wedding Date

Kate and William's wedding date will be April 29, 2011, a Friday. The date will be a bank holiday (a public holiday) in England. This should be popular with the Brits as it will mean two long weekends in a row, since Easter is the weekend prior to the wedding.

Royal Wedding Location

William and Kate will marry in London's Westminster Abbey. The beautiful cathedral is informally known as the royal family's church, and was the location of Princess Diana's funeral. Prince William's uncle, Prince Andrew, married Sarah Ferguson in Westminster Abbey in 1986. However, William's parents, Princess Charles and Princess Diana, chose St. Paul's Cathedral for their wedding because of its larger size.

The Minister

Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, will officiate at the royal wedding. As Archbishop of Canterbury, Williams is the leader of the Church of England. When he is King, William will become the Supreme Governor of the Church, so this is an appropriate choice.

The Dress

The question of who will design Kate Middleton's wedding dress is the subject of intense speculation. Elizabeth Emanuel, who designed Princess Diana's 1981 fairytale gown, speculates that "Kate will steer clear of a big bouffant dress." Good idea - the '80s are over.

Designer Monique Lhuillier predicts that Kate's gown will be cut "very close to that rocking body."

British designer Bruce Oldfield, who designed for Diana for several years, is an early favorite to create Kate's dress. This rumor was fueled by fellow British designer Ben de Lisi's recent comment that "I've heard it is Bruce Oldfield." Oldfield hasn't denied the rumors, stating, "If I was lucky enough to be asked, I'd be delighted."

Where is Kate Living?

Kate is living in London, in Clarence House near Buckingham Palace so she can be close to the locations she is visiting for planning. She meets weekly with royal aides at St. James Palace, and a royal aide shares, "She's a good planner." No wonder: she has worked for her family's party planning business.
