Royal Wedding Dress of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, a Popular One for Upcoming Nuptials

There may be plans to see in person all of the intricate detail and hard work that went into the exquisite royal wedding gown of the former Kate Middleton now Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. Diana, Princess of Wales' wedding dress has been on tour in the U.S. Presently it is on display every summer at the Althrop. It's only a matter of time for Kate's dress to be seen all over the U.K. and the world. In the meantime her wedding dress has become a popular design for summer brides-to-be. Dressmakers and now Lord & Taylor, an upscale department store, will be selling replicas. The royal wedding dress is becoming a fashion sensation like no other.

Kate's Wedding Dress on Display

A spokesperson from Clarence House has stated Kate's wedding dress may be on display soon somewhere in the United Kingdom. She is considering some possible venues such as Hampton Court Palace, the State Rooms, Buckingham Palace or the Victoria and Albert Museum. Kate wants the public to see for themselves the fine British craftsmanship that went into her dress. The Royal School of Needlework decorated her fitted bodice, nine-foot train and the rest of her ivory silk gown by hand with lace applique flowers. The embroiders were under such stringent conditions they had to wash their hands every 30 minutes and change needles every three hours to keep the lace looking flawless. The finest couture designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Valentino and Christian Lacroix gave the dress their highest praise.

Copycat Versions of Her Dress Available at Lord & Taylor

Hours after the royal wedding copies of the iconic wedding gown were being rolled out to hundreds of garment factories in China. In the U.S. a New York-based brand is planning on having copies made. Faviana's specialty is in copying designs of dresses worn by celebrities. One of their spokespersons stated it will far exceed anything they've done before. Available in July at Lord & Taylor will be not only Kate's royal wedding gown, but her reception dress and Pippa's stunning Maid of Honor dress. The main wedding dress will retail at $950, reception dress at $450 and Pippa's long flowing dress at $390. These three dresses will be sold at the flagship Lord & Taylor store on Fifth Avenue in New York, the Garden State stores in New Jersey and at LordandTaylor.com. The demand will be growing as it gets closer to June weddings and throughout the summer. You too can walk down the aisle looking as good as Kate Middleton did.
